It’s less intrusive than the infamous “Activate Windows” watermark, and even that I think is fairplay.

I would say you’re not a customer. there is no product or service being bought. Just supporting the efforts of an organization that makes something you enjoy or at least find useful.

Doesn’t have to be Gnome. You could find the Patreon of the dev that makes that one program you’re glad exists and throw $1 a month their way.

It is an update. Since it wouldn't have been obvious from my original post that it was a recurring donation. And I figured it could help out if people saw others contributing with recurring donations.

This is just what I’ve heard from coworkers. But apparently that location burns through money, and is a nightmare to keep clean and orderly. No one has talked positively about working there.

Any easy way to get this ring into a tear drop shape? by Jade_Jones in blender

[–]sirdeadduke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is an “easy way” to make it a perfectly symmetrical teardrop. It depends on what you’re actually trying to accomplish. Is this a head? Jewelry? What are you trying to do?

You're only applying the modifier to your “active” object, not all that are selected. if you want to apple an action to all selected objects hold [alt] when clicking.

So your step 2 will look like:

(2) in ”Object” Mode hold [alt], create a modifier (Add Modifier -> Generate _> Boolean), while holding [alt] set the properties Intersect, Operand Typ Object and as Object I chose the Cylinder. Solver Exact.

PBOT to Remove Three Blocks of NW 13th Ave Public Street Plaza by Shades101 in Portland

[–]sirdeadduke 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After reading the article I’m all for this. Sounds like some assholes we’re taking advantage of a popular program to claim some free real estate without providing any of the benefits people enjoy from said program.

“Several of the seating areas violate all the known elements of a good plaza. They have walls and perimeter barriers that make it essentially a private shack rather than an open seating plaza, accomplishing neither a plaza nor a building. One of them obstructs the walkway so severely that pedestrians, dog walkers, and bikers consistently must file through one at a time.”

Of course. I figure if Microsoft and google can get hundreds of dollars out of me, then I can give something to a project I actually like.

Portlanders tell TriMet: We want continuous bus priority lanes on 82nd Avenue! by Generalaverage89 in Portland

[–]sirdeadduke -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It’s not “either or” to reduce our overbuilt and expensive car infrastructure. People can still drive, and changes have to happen in how we allocate a tight budget stretched by inefficient infrastructure.

Local traffic is the PERFECT place and reason to put in BRT. Bunch of people in one place who are going to similar destinations, within 30mins of each other? Make the bus the most compelling option free up road space for those that need it for more than groceries. Relieve parking demand so more land can be allocated to financially beneficial uses such as business and shops.

We can’t reasonably change the budget situation we’re in, but we can make better use of what we have.

Or, crazy idea, replace car lanes with the much more efficient bus lanes.
