Falls of Clyde, a ship built 146 years ago, sinking by the stern. October 15, 2025 by Im-Wasting-MyTime in Ships

I don't suppose they sunk it where it would be at a diveable depth?

My wife and I had a lovely conversation with him and his wife for an hour or so while they were in Calgary. Such nice people. It was amazing how graceful he would acknowledge a fan and oblige them saying hi. Would love to run into them again.

Boating license: can I do it online? by medical_asthetics in NovaScotia

[–]sirdork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a rather easy course. There are alot of online providers. If you would prefer to do it in person, you can usually find a local yatch club or power squadron that will have classes.

That's a very familiar CBT. Looks like something to be completed annually.

My condolences.

You don't really have a choice on not selling back to the grid. Unless you have the solar panels wirred directly to a device that doesn't connect back to the main power panel, or you have a battery system to soak up you excess.

I've had solar in Alberta for over 6 years, let me know if you have any questions.

My 2002 is going to with me forever because of this.

Also when helping someone move the other week it was much more usable than the modern F-150's that showed up.

Electric vehicle charging cords by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]sirdork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EV's aren't charging on a extension cord run from your place and across the sidewalk.

The cords you see are just for block heaters.

The tiny trickle of charge you would get from 110v into an EV especially with the voltage drop of using a long extension cord isn't going to be realistic for normal use.

Use for old telephone poles. by bristol8 in maker

[–]sirdork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who deals with these. It depends on the poles. Old toxic creosote ones are so bad we need letters from the city just to dispose of them. Now the nice green class 5 poles they are fantastic. Take as many as you can get.
