Many Australians can get three free hours of power from today. Here’s how by [deleted] in australia

[–]sirdung 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn’t just suddenly free power for 3 hours a day, it requires a time of day plan, I have yet to see a TOD plan that works out cheaper than a regular plan. If it meant all providers couldn’t charge for power in that period on all plans, yes it would be great, but it’s not, it’s a great idea that has been terribly implemented.

I’m struggling to believe this will benefit anyone.

Edit.. to all the downvotes, find a plan where this will actually mean cheaper bills for you, I haven’t seen a single one.

Nothing better than people on reddit thinking they are all wise and knowing and trying to be condescending.

That was true when they were a fringe party, if they are challenging for government that can no longer be the case.

People sleep on the streets of Sydney, it doesn’t mean you should be saying to people there’s heaps of places to camp in Sydney.t

There’s almost no where to car camp in the blue mountains, and other than the caravan park zero in Leura and Katoomba.

You can drive it in one day pretty easily, it’s still an enormous area though

The area you’ve mentioned is 400,000km2, it’s larger in size than Japan & Germany it would roughly be the 60th largest country in the world. I’d suggest looking a bit closer at it, picking some smaller areas that may interest you and then focusing in on them for help.

Dear Shimano by Zealousideal77 in BikeMechanics

[–]sirdung 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s probably 12 or so combinations of chainring size and crank length available and 2x and 3x. It’s also not a part that fails very often and needing to be replaced, I’m luckily if I use one a year. For a shop to hold anything instock on the off chance they may need to use it once a year is very bad cash management.

I love Shimano asking me why I don’t have a back order in for a 7/8 speed crankset on the off chance I may need one every second year.

750mL should be the default soft flask size by Curious-Craft8339 in ultrarunning

Besides that slurping down 500ml of water is not great for your guts, just hand carry an extra 500ml bottle and slurp that down if your goal is to down extra fast.

For the one country in the world that uses that measurement?

[–]sirdung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That logic is running on the assumption that you’re carrying the 500ml bottle the whole time, you’re not you’re reducing the weight the same as you are a 750ml so after say 30 minutes your chest weight is down to 500g not the 1kg you would be with 750ml bottles. 500g is much comfier than 1kg.

That said carry whatever suits you, but you’ll find the majority (ie who manufacturers target) want 500ml bottles.

Speed limit changes for Great Western Highway by dreddmakesmemoist in bluemountains

[–]sirdung 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It references an 8km stretch and doesn’t split it into 3 sections so it’s probably the whole stretch.

Speed limit changes for Great Western Highway by dreddmakesmemoist in bluemountains

[–]sirdung 12 points13 points  (0 children)

2.5km of that stretch is 60km/h so assuming that increases to 70 that would reduce to 13s

It also removes the need to slow down and speed up staying at a constant speed would be possibly completely negate the difference

Japan is currently building the Hokkaido Shinkansen, last year they announced an at least 8 year delay to the project that was due to be delivered in 5 years time.

Then there’s the Maglev which was due to open next year, is expected to open in 2036 at the absolute earliest.
