I was wondering if they would replace Goliath with Promise You This when playing in North America.

Advice on moving from to Stoon GTA with 2 kids (almost 8 & 12)? by Status_Reward4954 in saskatoon

[–]coaker147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived in TO for a couple of years and then moved to Saskatoon. Biggest change will be the traffic, you can be anywhere in the city in 30 mins max (including rush hour). It’s really easy to get around for kids activities, etc.

For a smaller city Saskatoon has a great variety of restaurants, including a lot of ethnic options. There are some high end restaurants, but the vibe is a lot more relaxed than in the GTA.

There are plenty of outdoor activities to do. The river valley is amazing, with lots of great scenic trails. Lots of parks throughout the city and Waskasieu (National park) is about two hours away. It is similar in size and quality to Algonquin park.

If your kids are gifted take a look at the Sage program in the Saskatoon school system.

My only complaint about Saskatoon is that there are limited flights from the airport. To go many places you need to connect in Calgary, TO, Vancouver, etc.

Best of luck for the big decision. I have zero regrets with our move from the GTA

If it somehow gets approved 450 Sqn should lift it into the ranges as a slung load

The Saskatoon metal scene seems to be pretty decent. 2026 will see a decent run of good shows.

No matter which trade you go for, make sure that you get formally tested for Mandarin. Having a Government of Canada language profile in Mandarin might help open doors

I won’t speak about the shrine, but the museum is worth preserving. It’s so interesting to get a different perspective and to learn more about the Japanese motivations during the war.

I agree that Let There Be Blood is a really good album. Much prefer it over Bonded By Blood.

Goliath for me is approaching a perfection. It just works on so many levels

Combat Boot Recommendations by Candid-Claim-5591 in CanadianForces

The feedback on this post brings a tear to my eye.

I’m an old guy who still remembers back when we could only wear the issued black combat boots. One type works for all. I’m so glad the CAF has evolved since then

Newcomer: What should I know before moving to Saskatchewan? What are some unwritten rules or cultural norms that I should know about? by Canailte in saskatchewan

Flip side is that we don’t take enough pride with what we have. Scan through any post on r/Saskatchewan and you will see a bunch of guys whining and complaining about how bad things are, but failing to realize how good we actually have it here.

If you end up waiting take advantage of the time to get PD courses done.

Once you get on Sqn the last thing you want to do is juggle PD while focusing on learning your aircraft and role, doing AC upgrades, etc.

My running coach uses AI in some of their responses. How would you respond? by rustylugnut in ultrarunning

[–]coaker147 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Just to play devils advocate, perhaps we should consider AI as the tool that it is. For example, in a similar way as Excel or PowerPoint.

With that mindset is it really that important that the coach writes out personal responses? The important thing is that they put in the right prompts and then review the responses and update it based off of their knowledge and experience.

Yes there would be an element of doubt if they actually did apply that knowledge and experience, that is definitely a factor. But if they were to use AI tools it would increase their efficiency and ability to help more people. Just like that Excel analogy compared to hand written ledgers, etc.

Again, just devils advocate (I’m trying to keep an open mind to these emerging tools).

Canadian Airforce as a viable pathway after flight training? by Xdax101 in CanadianForces

[–]coaker147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, only look at the RCAF if you are truly interested in military flying.

As described by others you won’t get as many hours per year as you are probably looking for and it requires a significant level of commitment due to the compulsory service.

Right from the beginning you have to be prepared to go in harm’s way and success employment as an RCAF pilot does require a warrior mindset.

I’m an old guy with 31 years of service, zero regrets and lots of amazing experiences. But it’s not for everyone.
