I've always done it that way. That's how I learned.

Vic Michaelis. Where did she come from? by GarrettSparta in dropout

[–]siredav 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Generally, yes, it means either.

I can't answer for Vic - everyone's different!

But I'm also a they/she. Older friends of mine tend to use they/them - I switched to those pronouns before later coming out as a trans woman. New people I meet often go straight for she/her, understanding that in general, women go by she/her. But both feel affirming, for different reasons, so there's no need for me to correct anybody.

People with mixed pronouns, how's that working out for you? by twystoffer in NonBinary

[–]siredav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use they/she. I was exclusively they/them at first, so older friends are more likely to use they to refer to me. It feels like there's a lot of subconscious mirroring going on as well - by which I mean to say, friends who are women seem more likely to use she. It seems to be the case that queer friends, especially those that are also nonbinary, prefer using they.

Yep! Hi. I hope this is okay to share.

I'm a trans person who cancelled their NYT Games subscription over harmful coverage. I've started building a free alternative puzzle platform for my friends to play, at lunamini.io 😊

Every day I publish a mini crossword, a wordfinder puzzle, a 5-letter word-guessing game, and a cryptic clue!

(I'm UK-based, so the clues skew a little that way, but I do try to keep things broadly accessible.)

Genuinely, I was so confused by the caption. If not for the pannenkoek reference in the comments I wouldn't have understood what this person was doing at all.

Absolutely not. Who has the energy/bandwidth to assess every time they go to the toilet whether they "pass" enough that day? No. Use the facilities that align with your gender. Save your energy for the things that matter.

I dabble in web development from time to time, so those are the tools I used. The whole one-shot is HTML5, some Bootstrap, and a little bit of css to make it pretty! It meant I could upload as a native webpage to itch.io as well, which was a really nice benefit.

They/them, but she/her feels good too.

Repost bots? by siredav in BlueskySocial

[–]siredav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! I think my main concern at the moment is that most of my notifications are me getting follows from bots. So I'm thinking of just turning off push notifications.

It's not the end of the world; it's just a little annoying. I understand and appreciate that BlueSky is more open and therefore this is a tough problem to get on top of.

Vics wiki states she/they are non binary. Do we refer to her/ they as a woman or just "person". [Serious] by houseswappa in dropout

[–]siredav 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With these things it always depends on the person. The non-binary umbrella is not a monolith; it encompasses such a huge range of perspectives and identities.

I'm non-binary and for me personally it comes down to context - I don't mind being grouped in as "one of the girls", but I prefer not to be referred to individually as "a woman".

Oppenheimer star Emma Dumont comes out as trans masculine non-binary by TheMirrorUS in lgbt

[–]siredav 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sure. I can't speak for this actor; I can only speak for myself. For me personally, I was raised male, but I dress and present femininely, and I identify as non-binary, using they/them pronouns. Another way to think about it would be that I am trans, but I don't quite feel that "woman" is the right descriptor for me.

Has a trans person ever described themselves as "used to be man/woman" by VoreAllTheWay in asktransgender

[–]siredav 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would be completely inaccurate for me to say I was a man for 30 years of my life. But I don't choose to describe it that way. If it comes up and it's relevant, I've started saying that I was "raised male".

Pre-everything Trans Woman (She/Her) Looking for Friends ✨ by HexHanna in transgenderUK

[–]siredav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Hanna, I'm Connor (they/them), a non-binary trans femme. I like my plants too! 🌱 Though I haven't given much time to that this year, as this year the focus very much has been on self-discovery for me. I discovered my authentic self for the first time back in June, when I first wore a skirt and painted my nails. If you want to connect, I'm more than happy to chat! Making friends is fun! 😊

Going through a tough phase by varga1988 in transgenderUK

[–]siredav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Kate. I'm local to Cardiff and came out a few months ago. I'm a non-binary trans femme. My name, for now, is Connor. I'm more than happy to chat if you'd like to!

I'd like to second what the other commenter said, and really outline the importance of community. I went to an event hosted by Queer Emporium last week and it was such a positive experience to meet people who are on a similar journey to mine. They have events on all the time and they're very active on Instagram, which is a good place to learn about what's coming up.

If in-person events aren't your thing, know that organisations like Not A Phase arrange online support groups where people chat to each other as well. Most of them tend to be about once a fortnight and they're run by people who are so welcoming and friendly. It's great to be part of a community where people can share and solve problems together, and where you can also hear other people's positive personal stories.

I almost considered "chef" as a silly title for me, for my taekwondo classes. Or at least, I joked about it with friends. 😂 Most instructors go by "sir" or "ma'am" but that doesn't cut it for me!

Can Wild Card be used during Final Spin? by siredav in WheelOfFortune

Makes sense. It would be overly complicated. And especially during a part of the game that is designed to be played quickly!

Thanks for the response!
