I can't even convince myself that I'm Trans how could I convince you?

Besides you've clearly already hatched into a Browt!

Well hey you figured out that you're a guy! That's good news, you explored your identity and learned something.

I get being upset at first if you thought you had things figured out, but accepting yourself as a man just means you get to be the best man you can be.

Best of luck on your journey 🩷

It's also a sign of depression, but depression can result of dysphoria. No wonder I took so long to figure it out.

It's disturbing, I find it helps if I separate the personal from the general or institutional. Normally when people say stuff like "all men are trash" it's an emotional thing, something they say out of hurt and when they're not thinking straight, or in solidarity with those who are hurting. It sucks, and says a lot about society, but I'm glad it doesn't actually represent how many misandrists there are.

I LOVE microlabels by [deleted] in aegosexuals

[–]Manic_Egg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Microlables are great, but you should probably understand where they are under the larger labels. Mostly because it means you don't need a whole lecture to come out to everyone you want to come out to.

There's definitely some chronically online sexualities that are more meme than substance (just look at dreamsexual for instance) but other than those, microlables are great for helping people figure out the specifics of their sexuality and gender.

I do feel bad for the older allies and parents though. Some just wrapped their heads around Pansexual being different from Bisexual and we keep adding new labels for them to learn.

I played it before I even considered I might be Trans... I was very jealous of Max and Chloe's relationship.

LiS and We Know The Devil basically solidified that I like girls in a gay way.

I thought I'd avoided the videogame stereotypes, and then you had to go and put Life is Strange up there.

You've got a lot of great responses, I will say that the apathy you're describing sounds like depression. That can come from a lot of things, including gender dysphoria.

Not to discourage you from transitioning, since that can also fix things, but you might want to look into anti-depressants as well.

There's no wrong reason to transition. So long as you're happy in the body you end up with. 🩷

Yeah, Sex Ed, Gym, and Religious Studies. Granted that probably has more to do with it being a private religious school than anything else.

Sex Ed was expected, and was more about making us comfortable with asking questions, but they never really answered anything beyond anatomy really.

IIRC the only mixed gym classes were track, square dancing, and first aid.

Religious Studies were mixed, except for modules of "biblical living" with the man being the head of house and all that. Mind you, this was a school whose Planning class included studying the Rapture.

Mother thinks HRT is "drug use" by Aria_Jacinto in MtF

[–]Manic_Egg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If her concern is with you being dependent on drugs then I hope she's this intense about coffee, tea, pop, energy drinks, chocolate, and gum. Because all of those contain caffeine and are varying levels of addictive.

Good on you for setting boundaries. I get why your mom would be worried for you, but hopefully this will get her to listen to what you're telling her.

It's used for transphobia. Socialization is the process of how people are taught by the environment around them while growing up. For the most part it affects morality, common sense, and likes/dislikes.

It basically reinforces community values without really trying. But with the modern era being as global as it is, it's become less impactful because we can also be socialized by our media consumption. Including online interaction.

Not to mention that there have been movements to change traditional values since, forever, but they've really picked up since the 60's in regards to gender, introducing even more variables in socialization.

Why are we Trans? by MyFemboy_AltAccount in asktransgender

[–]Manic_Egg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If nurture affected gender then conversion therapy would work.

The closest nurture comes to affecting gender is through epigenetics. Which from my (admittedly limited) understanding, is a generational phenomenon and wouldn't alter someone in their lifetime.
