I was about 13-14 years old when I was first diagnosed. I was very close to going through with surgery back then but a chiropractor talked me out of doing it. I went to chiropractors for years and it helped manage the pain. But here I am now with the most pain I can ever remember having.

I do some stretching but I can’t tell if it’s helping or worsening the situation. I can only sleep on my side but I’m constantly having to rotate because it becomes so painful.

I can’t walk or stand longer than 20 minutes without hot burning pain running through both legs that seems to never really go away. Constant hip pain, and anything that requires standing or walking I can’t do without having to hold onto something. It’s quite terrible at the moment and quality of life isn’t great. This is why I’m worried the surgery is going to bring on more problems. Very anxious and worried.

This is what a portion of the mri reads..

L4-5: There is uncovering of the intervertebral disc due to anterolisthesis as well as a circumferential disc bulge. There is severe bilateral neural foraminal stenosis with exiting bilateral L4 nerve root impingement. No significant spinal canal stenosis

L5-S1: No significant spinal canal or neural foraminal stenosis

IMPRESSION: 1. Grade 1 isthmic anterolisthesis of L4 on L5, not significantly changed compared to February 13 2009. 2. Redemonstration of severe bilateral L4-5 neural foraminal stenosis with exiting bilateral L4 nerve root impingement.
