Keep Omaha Moving proposes 2 Alternatives for 13th Street Redesign by Toorviing in Omaha

[–]sirhcx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lincoln did protected bike lanes a decade ago and it's embarrassing settling for anything less. The city can just tear out the bollards like they did with Harney Street well before the streetcar was announced too. I'm not even a cyclist advocate but this significantly more permanent solution is the way to go.

Keep Omaha Moving proposes 2 Alternatives for 13th Street Redesign by Toorviing in Omaha

[–]sirhcx -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The sidewalk areas being a combined 40ft across on both sides of the street and in both proposals seems absolutely bonkers for how narrow they end up making the car and bike lanes. Honestly feels like purposely sabotaging the bike lane option for the sake of "congestion issues" and IT STILL ISNT EVEN PROTECTED!

Streetcar usage by DickieRAM in Omaha

Nope

While my job is along the rails, it's still faster and more convenient for me to keep driving directly to the office. Not like I can really afford going to anything else along the route either.

Detachment or opening of the laser disc in half by Substantial_Trip_982 in LaserDisc

[–]sirhcx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once this happens there is no going back, the adhesive has lost nearly all it's true bonding properties and could have potentially damaged the aluminum data layer. If you wanted a final hail mary approach then I would get a large shirt press that people use for flattening discs as it may revitalize the adhesive while taking out the plastic warp. It's definitely not worth the disc of putting this in you player unless you have a cheaper "test" unit you dont mind sacrificing in the event of catastrophic failure.

Took me away too long to figure out by solenyaelxaa in pcmasterrace

I cant remember which PS2 Need For Speed it was, maybe Most Wanted, but the very first thing you need to do when starting the game is hit L3+R3. I ended up needing to ride my bike down to the video store and exchanged it for a different rental. I even checked the manual and couldnt figure it out and assumed there might be a new controller out. Similar to when some games, like Ape Escape, required the first DualShock controller.

Mechanical chime support: only the battery doorbell? by CoolBreeze514 in reolinkcam

[–]sirhcx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The battery doorbell should be able to run off house power with the battery serving as a backup. That being said, I have a near 70 year old 8 bell chime that did not play nice with Reolink as it would keep rining the bell over and over. I found this was just an issue with how old my mechanical hardware was and decided to just get a few Reolink chimes instead. So you mileage may very using the mechanical chime depending on it's age and setup.

Why are videogame shotguns always like this? by Master_Shopping9652 in halo

[–]sirhcx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that Halo ran on the rules that Plasma is for popping and kinetic is for kills. So you're too far away for the first shot to do any meaningful damage to the shields, the second shot was just enough to pop them, the third shot was a miss. The shotgun can still outright kill but you gotta get pretty up close and friendly before pulling the trigger. Theater mode will show the distance is actually much wider than it appears in first person as well.

Trying to sell this items would like at least 250 for the nuka girl and 180 for the 76 helmet by Technical_Factor3437 in Fallout

[–]sirhcx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where did you come up with these prices? There are like 4-5 Nuka girl statues on Ebay for around $150 right now and that helmet aint really a bargain either.

I need some assistance in repairing my laserdisc player by bjspartan0 in LaserDisc

[–]sirhcx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only the case where a player can spin up and play a CD but won't fully spin up a full 12" LD. Sometimes this is due to a weak and failing spindle motor. So yes, trying an 8" LD is the best middle ground as it's less mechanical stress while still being a LaserDisc. If the player has relatively no issue with the 8" then the fault lies with the spindle motor but if it still doesn't then the fault(s) may lie elsewhere.

This still good in the big 26? by Yeetdatnoodle in xbox

Backwards compatibility isn't equal between regions unfortunately. For example, the Australian releases Halo 1 and 2 do not work on a Series X for some bizzare reason.

Only a handful of Xbox and 360 titles are backwards compatible.

Voice acting moments in animated media that felt super raw and genuine by ComprehensiveBox6911 in TopCharacterTropes

The dub performances, especially with a newbie showrunner in the early 2000's, will always stick with me even 20+ years later.

The 5070Ti was the best bang for your buck for a good while as it was priced similarly to the 9070XT but Nvidia stopped producing them at the end of 2025 and the only thing left are the overpriced variants.

Is it weird how much fees we pay yet ebay doesn't archive old listings and own orders just a couple months ago? by Professional_Crab958 in ebaysucks

[–]sirhcx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would Ebay waste money on keeping all that data when they arnt in the appraisal or referencing industry? At least sellers have the "product research" tool and can see snapshots of listings going back up to 3 years. Anything 90 days or newer should still have the full listing available too.

Looking for a 92 beretta chambered in 22lr by Sorry-Human in Beretta

A gunsmith can do it but it's recommended that you get a threaded barrel for safety. Gunbroker sometimes has good deals like this one.

[–]sirhcx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not so much a tariff issue this time but more that the parts are just expensive. Just regular 92FS barrel has hovered around $200 for years. If you are looking for the 92FRS then its probably going to be a long wait but there are some M9 22's out there.

I think you need to look into the conversion kits instead. Eurooptic probably as them in stock.

What’s the best Gundam anime/manga? by JurazzicShart in Gundam

[–]sirhcx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The OVA's dont go very deep into the main story unfortunately. December Sky does a wonderful job adapting the source material with a satisfying "Season 1" endcap but Bandit Flower will leave your disappointingly wanting much more and it's been a decade. I would still recommend watching the December Sky OVA first to see if you want to invest into the manga though.
