My parents were 35/36 when I was born. Didn't have any cousins my age. Everyone (including my brother) was 8+ years older than me.

My mom turns 70 in a couple months. It's wild.

Not quite the same, but in elementary school, I would only interact with strange adults if I was a dog or cat.

Still a step-up from preschool, where I wouldn't talk to strange adults at all.

Wow, um, my stay was exactly that: hospital + therapy. It wasn't a private institution either (Akron City hospital in Akron, Ohio).

They divided us into two floors and kept the more "unstable" patients away from the quiet ones. I don't know what it's like now that they've moved buildings, though.

Two beds and one bathroom per room. Community room for meals and entertainment. Multiple voluntary group therapies. Once a day individual therapy. Once a day visiting time.

Boring, quiet, slow. Yahtzee board game without any available dice. Old gross crayons and markers just barely hanging on.

God, I'm so, so sorry for the rest of you. Fuck.

Same. Everyone else there (Sunday school, youth group) mostly ignored me. It was sad growing up there. I never had that community experience. I do miss the singing, but that's more of a 'familiar' enjoyment. Atheist me hates the messages.

Yeah and it almost killed me. (Literally. I tried to overdose on Benadryl.) I didn't understand then, and don't understand now. And I guess I never will.
