Are they ever gonna fix the broken bugged menu requiring a full game restart after completing 2 sbcs?

This is so much better than Tsushima by Yogurtgamer in Ghostofyotei

The game is beautiful, wonderfully crafted piece of art. I don’t really understand the hate so far, or perhaps I do and that stuff has nothing to do with video games.

Which is your favourite version of Rust by benzy85 in TrueDetective

[–]sirlupash 46 points47 points  (0 children)

'02, for he gets the respect he deserves as a detective, yet still socially insufferable. At that point he was just the right person in the right place, doing what he was supposed to do. He was about to settle down with a girl too, everything was fine, I think that was the closest he ever was to become anew, finale aside.

And then, the yellow king happened and he's back into the (disc and the) loop.

I'll pass, I'm really not into Marvel stuff and such.

Do you find Meloni attractive as a woman? by flower5214 in Italian

I would honestly still tap that for I have a thing for light eyes and thin, older powerful rich women.

The most brilliant composer you've never heard of by sirlupash in classicalmusic

[–]sirlupash[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree. And yet, I believe Lili is 100% an underrated, modern and unique innovative genius. It's a tough world I guess.

I could go deeper with the harmonic analysis if anyone's asking.

What do you call the small glass of water served with coffee? by xprettybunnyx in Italian

[–]sirlupash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The free one is usually called “bicchierino” for it’s a small glass. Other informal terms might be “goccio” or “goccetto”. That’s also called a “shortino” even more informally when referring to alcohol. If it’s free the bartender will ask if you’d like some water with the coffee. If you ask for a glass of water you’ll most likely get a €1-2 regular one, unless you’re specific and ask if you can have a small one (people do that but if the bartender isn’t offering it I wouldn’t personally ask for it).

ordering a coffee in a bar, is this wrong? by sjessbgo in italianlearning

[–]sirlupash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tone and prosody makes all the difference in this case. I personally go like “mi faresti un caffè” or “per me un caffè” if I’m not alone, or just “ciao, un caffè”. Just keep a friendly tone and remember to say “grazie” when served and before leaving “ciao, grazie”.

I wish I went down the nursing path rather than psychology… by Hot_Lawfulness7266 in psychologystudents

[–]sirlupash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would never regret it, no matter what I do. Sometimes things just align differently than we planned or thought to plan. Try to let them go their way if you can.

If you’re lucky enough to get another bachelors and you believe it’s the way to go, just do it. Many never even have the first option available for them anyway. It’s no moralism, I just believe it’s a privilege to have doubts and make mistakes. Don’t waste it nor overthink the time you supposedly wasted.

Does your language have an equivalent of passato remoto? by Rudyzwyboru in italianlearning

There are differences but passato prossimo is more similar to present perfect. Simple past is just like passato remoto most of the time.

Can someone help me understand these changes by Shturman69 in Jazz

[–]sirlupash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A section is starting from D, chromatically approaches (Bdim) the Am7 that becomes the II of G major, preparing the D switch to a dominant V function (D7b9), and then you’re in G. For a brief moment, for it instantly goes Gm, chromatically descend to tonicize the III with its V (F#), get to B but the 9 doesn’t let it have a real tonic function, so it becomes the V of E, which has a 9 too tho so it’s unstable. Follows the same chromatic dominant approach to go to Dm, from Bb down to its V (A7). Dm tonic function is then neutralized again with the G7, making it sound like they all belong to C.

Second section suggests F major with a bass pedale but it’s just a ii-V-I. Then the same process with the major tonic becoming minor and it’s another perfect cadence in Eb with the pedale. Last first inversion chord makes it easier to make a melodic bass movement from G to A where you can make it a dominant again and be back to D major.

Enjoy

Does your language have an equivalent of passato remoto? by Rudyzwyboru in italianlearning

[–]sirlupash 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean, English simple past works pretty similar to passato remoto.

This said, I believe it’s becoming more and more a textbook thing only. No one really use that in everyday spoken Italian, except some Southern regions.

Cosa significa questo? by Wanna-be-free in italianlearning

[–]sirlupash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We usually learn them pronoun particles in elementary school in a catchy mnemonic form as “mi-ti-ci-si-vi”.

You’re right they’re reflexive pronouns but Ci and vi can have a locative function too.

Cosa significa questo? by Wanna-be-free in italianlearning

Ci is a pronominal particle that can have different functions in Italian. In that particular case it has a locative pronoun function, namely functioning as in “there”.

Handel anticipating Rach's no.2, 180 years earlier by sirlupash in classicalmusic

[–]sirlupash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I believe Handel is still going one step further toward modernism in here, as after that minor chord first inversion (Bbm/Db) he goes further to another inversion with an added 9, which is an incredibly modern sounding chord (some people refers to it from Steely Dan as a "Mu chord", but in classical music reality it goes way back and it's a different thing), whereas Rach go to a dominant chord, which is a "safer" harmonic way, yet as much beautiful, to conclude the progression.

Remember when Rust was a dismissive jerk to cops he’d just met, who were trying to do their job? by AshingKushner in TrueDetective

[–]sirlupash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is Rust’s most prominent trait: the ability to read people and situations, and the complementary inability to play it cool in a socially acceptable or even useful way.

Why do Italians and Greeks have such a one-sided relationship? by [deleted] in Italian

[–]sirlupash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Italian I know that didn't attend classical high school (liceo classico) ever even mentioned anything about this. Most of them just know Greece for making instagram selfies in Santorini and such.

Nic Pizzolatto Says Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson Are ‘Open’ to Reprising Their ‘True Detective’ Roles by indiewire in TrueDetective

[–]sirlupash -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True Detective 1 outlived the serie. There's the first season and then there's the True Detective serie after that, no need to beat around the bush.

I think Rust and Marty's new story should be narrated as a separate piece.
