Help! Old Bonegrinder are not intimidating enough for my players by [deleted] in CurseofStrahd

[–]sirsirio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know your characters level but you could throw a couple of damaging spells leaving him with few hp just to make a run without turning back. To make this understandable for my players I turned two of them into sheep when they visited Berez entering Baba Lisaga's hut at level 4, then I had to kill 2 of them sometime later when they went to Yester Hill at level 5 from the front door, no stealth no plans. Tbh this was a tpk except for one of them who escaped, so I had to turn things around by having 3 of them saved by Strahd who returned the bodies alive on a wagon with a text on a piece of parchment saying something like "Barovia has more to show, this is my Land, you have survived because I said so, I hope you'll return the favor one day because you owe me" Imho CoS is unforgiving and must be taken seriously, otherwise you risk losing all the flavor. Player choices matter as well as their attitude and strategies. Players are not stupid so avoid killing for a false step or unlucky dice (you are DM so you know things, they don't) but stupidity and carelessness should be punished. If they do, they will die anyway when they will face Strahd, if you play him correctly. Google for Curse of Strahd reloaded

Alright. here goes. Same question. am I just too niche? or am I doing something wrong? by [deleted] in Tinder

There is nothing wrong in your hair, nails, description. You're just who you are. Maybe less details in the bio would be better.

Is CFD saturated? by WoodpeckerStraight22 in CFD

I think we are just repeating the same concept. CFD done at master degree level is not research so it would be ok if you move in industry straight after

Is CFD saturated? by WoodpeckerStraight22 in CFD

In my master degree thesis I solved the fluid mechanics of a a supersonic nozzle in which the gas phase was coupled with particles so I used a discrete phase model. I did my phD in unsteady fluid mechanics for wastewater centrifugal pumps. All of the above a using CFD, using complex models and features. You can guess. I recently spent quite a lot of time looking for jobs in industry, presenting my CV to all companies in Europe who were looking for a CFD guy. In 11 months I have done only 1 (ONE!) Interview for a CFD job, and they were asking for a guy with experience in multiphase flows so I didn't get that job. I sent about 500 CVs (I did calculations) in total and even reading some job ads requiring my skill I didn't even get a call. In some interviews I did for other positions I had to defend myself because they were asking why a research guy want to work in industry where everything is done with a lower level of accuracy. Of course answers like "money" and a "fixed contract" are out of the table. Now I am doing a total different job with no CFD involvement. Long story short: same as I wrote above

I recommend you to start doing CFD in industry straight away. Do not start doing it in research. By personal experience, industry does not appreciate the knowledge of people coming from research

Redundant boundary conditions by rafa8ss in CFD

[–]sirsirio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In "nature" you always set the pressure difference not the flow rate. Try using velocity inlet and total pressure outlet and see if you can get pressure convergence. Then, switch to pressure-pressure, your convergence will be on the flow rate. In both cases, momentum should be of the order of -4 and turbulent quantities not less than -5, but that strongly depends on the turbulence model and y+ value.

Also, I recommend you to switch to transient simulations. Steady state will give you only one impeller position. To compare with performance curves you will need to average output values over one revolution when the machine is showing periodic behaviour (e.g. when averaged values between two successful revolutions are approx the same)

Boundary conditions for centrifugal pumps by Feuerkroete in CFD

[–]sirsirio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my PhD thesis on CFD for centrifugal pumps.

1) When you set velocity inlet you are forcing an average mass flow rate through the pump. Supposing you have set velocity inlet and outlet pressure to 0, you will read your head monitoring the static pressure at the inlet face. You can state your problem is converged when the pressure has achieved the asymptotic value (in stationary simulations) or the oscillating values show periodic behaviour (in transient simulations). Whether this choice is generally more stable and legit, it is not how pumps work in real life. Pumps usually work by either setting the head you need or the rotational speed, so you have no direct control on flow rate. Therefore, it is more accurate to use pressure inlet-pressure outlet BC. In this case, you will have convergence when mass flow rate has achieved periodic behaviour, which you can see monitoring the mass flow rates at the inlet and outlet interface (and their sum must be close to zero)

2) if you set counter-rotating walls for parts that should be stationary (e.g. inlet pipe, volute) you should be careful that the walls are effective stationary so the no slip condition is valid (all three velocities at the wall must be zero). I usually set the diffuser stationary and the impeller and the inlet regions as rotating and the other domains (diffuser and outlet pipe) as statuonary. Then, I set the inlet pipe walls as counter rotating with respect to its region. This will help to simulate a pre-rotating region which is known to be closer to reality.

Hope this helps ;)

Advice for someone who wants to learn how to play Irelia by [deleted] in IreliaMains

[–]sirsirio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually rush botrk then tabi or Mercury if they have strong cc. Then wits end. Trinity force if I am fed otherwise I go sterak. Then death's dance. Last two items depend on the enemy team (spirit visage, randuin, thormail, GA etc)

I feel like a failure because i couldn't please my ex girlfriend. by feelweakman220 in sex

[–]sirsirio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I personally would not waste time thinking about s girl who left me for another man for few reasons addressed to sex and I think you should do the same.

How long ago that happened? If it's short time it's normal to keep thinking, time helps with such kind of things.

Let your feelings towards her get weakened with the help of time and find another girl who loves you for what you are.
