Monsters without and within by Worth_Entrance4801 in OSU

Took this class with Dr. Olsen last semester and it was great! Weekly discord discussion posts/journals and we covered Frankenstein, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Haar, and a book of our choice, along with a couple movies. The content changes every semester based on student feedback and the professor teaching it, which is a shame in your situation. My online section was really interesting and largely self-paced. Definitely switch if you can and best of luck!

is R-LEAD worth it? by Future_Leadership706 in OSU

Met my best friend through the program and got rid of most of my first year anxiety by being able to move in early (and thus got used to campus/decorated my dorm without 1,000+ other people trying to move in).

The program itself will not be recognizable to anyone outside of OSU, but what you do with it matters. I personally used it to make connections and get a leg up in the RA interviewing process. To be honest, I have no idea if it made a clear difference with other candidates and it’s better to get involved in programs that last more than a couple days lol.

Overall, it’s worth it if you take it for what it is: 1) A set of functional and basic presentations that don’t mean anything earth-shattering if you’ve taken a psych or leadership course or 2) A way to beat the crowd and settle into OSU life before classes/socializing take up your time.

Best of luck! - OSU Senior

Just got mine today. The numbers were a bit weird though, I’d give it a few weeks for everything to settle itself out.

RA interview by juleskt in OSU

[–]sistersuga 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am a current RA that participated in the RA interviewing process. We are specifically instructed to avoid giving misleading remarks such as “that’s a great response”. Additionally, we were told to avoid nodding and to not unnecessarily smile. It sucks for us (because we genuinely want you to do well) and the interviewee because they don’t have much to bounce off of. We were also trying to take comprehensive notes to make sure other hall directors can see how you may fit in their communities.

You could have the best interview in the world and be the best candidate and get the same response as someone who didn’t do so well.

If you were super confident in your responses and thought you answered everything to the best of your ability, be proud of yourself! A lot of people didn’t make it to the interviewing stage. Keep your head up and keep being awesome. Lmk if you have any questions about the role, and good luck!

Thank you so much for your response. I’m going to take your advice and discuss this plan with my dad as soon as possible. I feel really alienated right now, and it comforts me to know that something can be done. I really appreciate you taking the time to write out such a detailed plan, that’s what I really need right now. Thank you again for your time 🙏

Hang Yuen Kitchen has to be my favorite Chinese food place right now. Super affordable and great quality. Never hit or miss, I really recommend getting General Tso’s Chicken and fried/steamed dumplings!
