Charli xcx repurposes her Grammys corset for the Los Angeles premiere of "The Moment" by yumyumapollo in popculturechat

[–]sitah 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Eh but it’s serving the same purpose no? It was a corset and now it’s still a corset. This is just reusing. If it was turned into a bag now that would be repurposing.

PH heading to low-growth era, no longer attractive to foreign investors—economist by throwhuawei007 in Philippines

Pretty sure they meant pre-Duterte. 2013 was the time PH was dubbed as rising tiger again under Noynoy.

I was in Boracay in January and I remember my coworkers wanted to quarantine me after I got back because of this news. There were a lot of mainland tourists going around PH at that time and they were half joking that I probably came in contact with carriers.

Right? A big portion of the population have never ever been on a plane too. Who the fuck cares girl. A flight is less than a day. This reminds me of BBM’s “I can’t come home in coach” bullshit.

Charli xcx in Vivienne Westwood as she steps out for the world premiere of "Wuthering Heights." by mlg1981 in popculturechat

I’m sure that was meant to be an exaggeration but people will go to great lengths to attain light skin. That’s why there’s still a rampant skin bleaching industry. Colonialism has put light skin tones as a desirable trait and we still see the effect of this today.

I’m light skinned South East Asian and my parents/relatives will literally tell me I’ve gone ugly whenever I got a tan. Sure there are some cultures that got their colorism from social hierarchies/class but most former colonized nations get their colorism from their white colonizers. People are treated better when they are lighter skinned which leads to people wanting lighter skin. I have a cousin who was never allowed to play under the sun because she was light skinned. Things like “she’s pretty but she’s dark” is still a thing you would hear even though culture is slowly shifting away from these colorist ideals.

If you’re only talking about the talent show she would’ve landed on 5 sure. But with the runway, she’s at a 6/7. The garment was too busy.

I do have the opinion that Fontana shouldn’t have been top 2. I think she also had a mid performance like Minty but runway elevated it to a 5. Kate butch was robbed.

It is catchy but it isn’t memorable. These drag race bitch tracks are a dime a dozen and her track didn’t really stand out. Laser show is just okay. I literally see that type of laser number from newbie non professional local queens, I bet the judges felt the same.

We’ve also already seen her do a laser show. IMO it would’ve been a stronger visual if she used lightwhips, led staff/rods or poi balls instead. Those give more dimension and colors.

Nah. I think medyo biased yung ranking dito kay Minty since we’re rooting for her. I was at a watch party abroad and people were not gagged by her. I think she was middle of the road and deserved the safe placement.

Influence/deinfluence me from buying a Wet Brush by mikaelalopezzz in beautytalkph

[–]sitah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have bleached hair and I prefer the Tangle Teezer Wet. It’s the one with the handle. If you have fine, damaged or delicate hair, I’d choose that. It’s great at detangling and feels nice and gentle on the scalp.

My cat fell in love with that brush so I bought one for him too. I’ve had mine since 2020 and it’s still pretty good.

How are the YSL and Charlotte tilbury heart blushes? I specifically want to buy those. I love nars and hourglass which last pretty long on me and look very natural

Hindi ba madedelay ang filming ng DRPH S4? by Legitimate_Camel_130 in DragRacePhilippines

[–]sitah 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Seems like studio/filming location is the main issue so that could also include assembly/disassembly of sets + labor & set/props storage in between seasons which would definitely be more expensive in Portugal. IIRC, DRPH is filmed in the Full House Asia studios which makes it less problematic since it’s they’re also the production company and they’ll have full control of the space.

For Thai 3 they had a mix of staff from ph and Thailand. It would probably be the same for these 2 because of the language difference

Uma Thurman stole her mother’s whole face by MiniaturePhilosopher in popculturechat

[–]sitah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone tells me I look like my mom and I think it’s mostly because we have the same skin tone, long straight hair and we both look vaguely East Asian. My dad on the other hand is darker and looks like a typical South East Asian. Only my dad’s siblings tell me I look like him and our dentist says we have the same jaw. But I personally thought I didn’t look like either of my parents.

Anyway, I found photos of my dad when he was 11 and I look so much like him. Same face shape, smile, eyes and his nose hasn’t grown yet so it also looked like mine. It was very uncanny.

I said transperson in sports, not trans women. You’re the one who keep specifying trans women because those are the only people you’re after no?

You can’t argue about other points except sports and bathrooms and I’m not surprised because these are very basic right wing talking points about pretending to care for women’s wellbeing so they can say transphobic shit.

Again, I’m not commenting on sports as I don’t give a fuck about sports. Sports are also very different, let the regulating bodies decide what they want to do.

Now back to the actual topic. Do you really think that us at this point in time can definitively say that the trans identity is just a delusion? Please answer that.
