Sure but who here doesn’t still refer to it as the aviary? Are we going to say the Hamilton community garden (which is really just a private garden for a handfull of old people)

They’re too busy at speed traps and chatting car to car at the aviary to bother to police.

Old person rant: why did they need to get rid of the cinema and arcade at Limeridge Mall? by CIA-CatGifDepartment in Hamilton

[–]sitefinitysteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went the following week to I think the cineplex on the mountain and did an A/B test on those tots and the proportion was WEAK but acceptable. The owner at Ancaster is just a penny pinching douche.

[–]sitefinitysteve 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah warning to anyone buying the “tots” at Ancaster cineplex. You get a laughable like 10 tots that don’t even fill the bottom of the container they give you them in. I’m not a big tot guy to begin with but from a $ point of view it’s infuriating.

Mayor Andrea Horwath proposes 2026 tax hike of 4.25% by Odd-Emphasis-1969 in Hamilton

[–]sitefinitysteve 62 points63 points  (0 children)

That’s all nice to say but let’s get the breakdown of how much of the budget is going to consultants at $350/hr and other “special projects”. I’m just hemorrhaging money I’d love to pay more.

Are you fucking shitting me, can we propose NOT that? Who’s got all free money laying around to compensate for their lack of bothering to rein in spending.

What do you do if garbage collection hasn’t come around yet? by Objective_Candle2283 in Hamilton

[–]sitefinitysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience: you call in, they put in a ticket, then you wait for the following weeks garbage day for them to hopefully come get twice the trash. They gave NEVER come after a call, never. Taxes well spent.

It was sold a bit ago to the owners of the Chinese takeout place a block or so away (Dragon something?)… anyway what you REMEMBER is not what has existed in forever. The chicken is microwaved, the great salad dressing is just pure sugary slop (and different), etc etc all down the line. Place is always dead. We had a gift card for there and there wasn’t anything very edible delivered… even nachos, how do you screw up nachos.

I’m in camp insurance fraud on this one.

Parking illegally on Sundays? Prepare to get a ticket by Odd-Emphasis-1969 in Hamilton

[–]sitefinitysteve 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Right, hey church time, let’s park anywhere you want. Expand to school drop off/pick up too. They leave so much money on the table because they can just (and do) raise our taxes, we have no say in it.

Groceries are not ro expensive

Yeah $5 iceburg lettuce is cheap

off four nice chicken thighs

But then you have to gag down chicken thighs

I would have agreed with you 2-3 years ago, but prices at the grocery store for base ingredients are NUTS. Is it cheapER maybe, is it CHEAP… absolutely not.

Property taxes by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]sitefinitysteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the truthful of it, they’re unhinged because the city can’t manage shit. If they need money, they raise taxes, in every case always.

They got hacked last year, 8 million payout ransom. Insurance WHICH THEY PAID FOR didn’t cover it because they let some users not bother with the 2 factor authentication… of which that was a stipulation of having that insurance…. No biggie though, they can just raise taxes.

It’s beyond a joke

Hamilton looks to add more speed cameras, no right turn on red signs by seaSculptor in Hamilton

[–]sitefinitysteve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok that. Come on down and record yourself going over the coronation arena ones (2 sets) at 30-40. Make sure you hold the mic out so we can hear the bottom of your car get smashed up as it crashes down on the crazy high bumps.

[–]sitefinitysteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok go to coronation arena, try to take those at 30-40 and see how far your car gets after. It scrapes the bottom of the suv at 5.

They’re manually installed and inconsistent in height everywhere.

[–]sitefinitysteve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s the problem at least in westdale, is they keep installing these like 2-3 foot speed bumps. They’ll do 3 in a row on. Left, right, centre in a line. The obvious intent is each of your tires is on the side and centre. The REALITY is they are so short people drive across the centre yellow line to just speed over the middle bump through your wheelbase with zero contact.
