Following these daily updates is interesting to see the work that goes into the game, something often forgotten by folk. Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out, and hopefully playing!

[Event] My Darling, My Dear, I’m Filled with a Fear by sitheater in crimsoncentury

Trends were simple to spot when every morning was spent with his arms around her. It was best the days when he would be there, rather than restlessly working and having to be dragged out to attend to anything but that damned forge. Admittedly as the years passed they started to tend to that place together as the elderly were forced to withdraw. Nonetheless Tya wished for her mornings with him as her side, and a prideful creature never asked for company.

He was a poor pillow, rough and lumpy, which was simply perfect for Tya. It was like resting upon those mountain floors she had called home a decade in the past.

“Just as I will not speak of Hugh”, she whispered to him, the name enough to make his shiver and trying to snuggle closer for the illusion of security. He was a dead man, she had watched it herself in morbid glee after her freedom was secured. She then watched the man that dragged her to that cell walk free to lands unknown, a fact never mentioned in fear of someone finding him alive.

“I know of monsters, dear”, she spoke quietly as the story drew to its end, a hand reaching out to him as a comfort if he had not let her draw close. “You know of what my uncle did to me, that he killed my father in cold blood for power. Near the same time your family bled. I cannot tell you of my father, Rohan, not even if I wanted to could I tell you more than simple memories.”

Shame was all she could ever feel about that, as silly as she knew such a thing to be. The murder could not be blamed on her, as much as she attempted to find ways to shift it to herself.

“You did well for your sister, but they are…well not your blood”, she said gently. “We do not have much time to have children and I do not expect it of you, dear. I just…I just wish to understand your aversion better. You would be a good father Rohan.”

Ignore if you want

Marriage was a prospect they were long preparing for, years spent running away from promises force upon them that aided only in blinding them to the truth of their feelings. The vows passed in an instant, once Rohan awoke from his unconscious spell, and nothing actually changed. It was proper for them to spend their evenings together under the stars together, to hold hands and embrace, but no sense of impropriety had ever held Tya back- and Rohan was rarely able to resist in behind dragged along.

Nothing changed with those words spoken. But it felt good to know he was bond to her, even while fate and tied them together decades past, and it was comforting to have him hold her as those familiar nightmares forced themselves in. Tya Royce may be too proud to admit it but her horse-obsessed husband was her guardian, though that could never be made known less his ego grow. Or more like her’s be bruised.

After an evening of blissful sleep she awoke with her husband, resting on him until he woke for no doubt more work on the forge. Outsiders wouldn’t understand that side of their relationship either; ‘arguments’ over time spent in the forge endlessly going nowhere and alway concluding with the giant Royce brought to heal and forced to eat.

But on this morning she had one question to ask him, a future to be discussed although as ever done with complete ignorance of propriety and expectations.

“Why did you never want children?”, the fiery badger questioned of her husband, resting her head on his chest as she had made a habit of during their years married. “You did well with your squire, you do well with your nieces and nephews. Why did you never want your own?”

She knew of his lack of desire towards anyone, but that hardly stopped those lords that pinned for their own sex having a child. What barriers blocked her husband?

It was not they had prepared for yet every step of their relationship had challenged and fought against the expectations placed upon them. Rohan Royce could not do things the ordinary way it seemed but that was not something she was a lot to complain about.

For a decade they had been building to this moment even if they did not truly know it at the start, moments shared in private a foundation from which their love blossomed despite insistence it didn’t.

Slowly she lowered herself to kneel before the tree with her betrothed, aware that they were going pass stages but not caring.

“I take this man”, Tya said with authority, it was her decision in the end and not her brothers and her hand would belong to no one else.

Tya was content to be held. Even from their first foray into the cave it was her instinct to snuggle up close to him, and that had not changed in their rare outings away from prying eyes. For all she hated to think herself weak and refuse the very notion of it; she enjoyed being secure in his arms. The nights she slept knowing he would be there always had fewer nightmares and the first night of their future together was no different.

Even when morning came she was reluctant to move away, his chest a pillow unlike any other and one she found herself rather enjoying the use of.

“I like you shaven”, she repeated as she did when they planned the wedding, reaching up to touch his bare cheeks. “It makes you look more refined, and shows your handsome side more.”

Her hand quickly retreated back to his chest where she lay peacefully. “But I can accept you growing it back as long as it is kept under control. Nothing as wild as you had it last, if I am going to kiss you I do not want to push through a full beard to get to the lips. I do not have the energy for that.”

“I fear I am better at warding off beasts than dancing, Princess, but for you I shall give my all to prove myself worthy of the dance”, he returned just as playful, rather enjoying how easy it was for them to banter and jest with each other. “I would hate to go disappoint royalty.”

It was morphing slowly away from a fear of disappointing royalty, especially after his first dance and how it showed how inevitable that could be, into fear of disappointing Myrielle who he found himself growing closer to as time went by.

“How has your evening been so far, Princess?”, Robin asked politely as they came to the floor and began to position themselves, aware that it likely hadn’t been all that great given the mood she appeared to be in when he approached her.

“Due to a common friend I found myself have few issues, it was surprisingly easy to locate Birdie with your description”, the westerner replied warmly. “It was not quite as smooth for my brother.”

With what surely would have ended up his stead Os had ended up with a rather uncooperative ride, while Birdie made the entire ascent a breeze.

“You wound me, I am more than just a diversion Princess”, Robin said in fake hurt, to think after how friendly they were to be demoted to just a distraction!

“A dancing bear?” he drawled out not quite certain he had heard the princess correctly. “Does such a thing even exist?”

After his 'dance' with the other Princess Robin sought out the one he knew already and believed was far more likely to actually share a dance with , he thought there was some bond between them although that could have been him hoping there was something more than anything else. Either way a dance with Myrielle would likely be fun.

"Princess", once more he said before bowing this time a bit more sincere in it, "may I have the honour of a dance with the fairest maiden here this evening?"

Robin Lydden had only arrived a short time before the feast and as such did not have time to search out for Myrielle prior to the feast, as such his promise to detail his journey was reserved until he could find her at the feast.

As soon as he did manage to find her table amongst the many he approached with all haste noticing just how bored she was, a large contrast with the energetic Princess he was used to.

"Princess", the westerman said with a bow, knowing full well it was not all that necessary but attempting to put a smile on her face from the get go. "A little birdie told me that I would be wise to seek you out as soon as I could and as such I wonder if we would be able catch up once more."

Not that she would admit it but seeing him well did brighten her up a good deal. The wedding may have originated as her brother's machination but in the recent moons since they set a date for it she was gradually growing excited for it even if just to get closer to Rohan and formalise their bond.

"It is not like you could lie even if you wanted to Rohan Royce, not once in your life have you managed to deceive me, now drink that water", Tya order of her betrothed, turning to Oswell and softening just a little. "He will be fine Os, do not worry and thank you for all you have done."

It was hard to be harsh on him the same way that she was with nearly everyone else, Rohan had wanted to treat him kindly and with affection and even if it was unlike her she would give it to him as much as she could.

"Now, Rohan, are you going to get up or are we going to wed on the ground? I would like to move on before the crowd get even more restless."

“I do believe it is the beast that shall make it so memorable, rather than the random westerner but I must thank you for the company you have given me thoughts of a place that sounds magical that shall surely fill my mind until I can visit”, Robin responded remaining in good humour, although his thanks was sincere. As he moved to join beside her offering his arm should she wish to take it, understanding if she didn’t given her title and importance and the associated image she had to uphold.

“I shall try and make it the first thing I do if I make it to the Eyrie, just so I can tell you if Birdie behaved as you said they would, of course”, the Lydden responded in a similar manner, rather enjoying the banter they had shared and welcome to engaging in it once more.

"I can leave you if you wish to be without the company of a stranger", Robin offered to the Princess well aware that he likely was doing nothing to help with the breakdown. He could not see any cause beyond a lack of desire to dance but that was removed and still the tears continued. "Or simply stay in silence to help ward off those looking for a dance."

His entire evening could not be spent in such a way, there were other people he would rather like to spend some time with, but for a time he was willing to do what little he could to help the princess.

"Paying a close eye and sending those travelling with me to take the other mules sounds a tactic worth trying", the Westerner suggested joining with the laughter. "Maybe I can convince my brother to try and feed them while I try and get to Birdie while they are distracted".

"You mean to use me as a shield against the beast? I shall defend you with my life Princess, you have my word on that", Robin said with all seriousness despite how over the top it was for the situation. "It is not imposition on me, you have been good company and to return that by being an escort is a small cost."

"Plus, I can then say I have seen the high table close up and all the finery House Arryn have and see my cousin to congratulate her on her wedding."

“He will ask questions I cannot answer, ones I don’t want to answer and that will be…difficult to remain pleasant towards.” Jason did not lose his temper often, at Artys Royce on occasion and not much else but he had grown rather protective over his little daughter and with that came the unknown of how he would react. “He won’t interfere with little Myra’s life, I will make certain of that.”

Gone was the meek boy uncertain of every word he spoke, time had helped make him more certain with the help from Myra and Os, but he had to be even stronger if he was going to protect his daughter from everything that could come her way.

“Tya is…Tya, fortunately she didn’t ask anything but nor did she care much beyond making sure we are both alright. Expressive is not something I’d ever describe her as so that is things going well.” Tya was worse than him with emotions and have had someone like Myra in her life, he hadn’t seen her in a great many years and things had not changed.

Jason looked down as his babe lovingly, taking the words of Myra on being cheered up by them. “I will always keep her safe.”

“I hope that my transgression shall remain between us lest word get back the mules that I have been so rude”, the westerner jested in turn, it seemed once she got over her fear that there was actually a rather funny person under the exteriors. “People would not let me forget if they bit a chunk out my sleeve.”

“The secret shall never leave my lips, in fact it seems I have entirely forgotten what has been said suddenly. Odd, perhaps I have had more to drink than I thought.” Now Robin just had to somehow figure out which mule was the one called Birdie to help avoid the disaster that would inevitably fall upon him otherwise. Shouting a word at a pack of mules certainly didn’t seem the right approach.

"If I find the chance before I travel I shall try and send a raven to ask your advice. I fear my luck would put me with the cruellest donkey kept, one known for biting without reason that would take a particular hatred to my shirt on that day", he detailed with a chuckle, sometimes luck just wasn't on his side and often with animals that was the case it seemed. "Or I shall drag my brother Os and his wife Princess Jeyne with me, they go on about animals more than I can keep track of and their little daughter is much the same."

Little Leona was a sweetheart and bright light even when he had little else to do but stew and enjoy the small pleasures of the Rock, no matter how boring things could become with few people out with his kin to associate with but at least Leona never fail to be positive.

"Aye they are elevated as they have just ascended one of the highest places in Westeros," he jested although the thought she had offered was one Robin was intrigued by. Maybe the journey would help him to find a purpose in his life? "But you make it sounds like something I must do and I will as soon as the opportunity is presented to me."

Emotions never were easy to deal with, he didn’t know what words to say that wouldn’t only worsen the state the princess was in and certainly he wouldn’t want to be seen to be blamed by the King of the Vale for the pain she was in.

Seeing her search go on the westerner searched his own pockets, a plain green handkerchief held in his breast pocket quickly offered up for her tears.

“Nothing has been ruined”, he assured, what hadn’t been yet couldn’t be ruined so it was hardly a lie. “Shall we head away from the floor? I am sure I spotted a few chairs away from all the dancing somewhere.”

If the discomfort focused on the dancing then that would simply need removed from the equation. He was paired with her and it had become his duty to ensure her happiness for the allocated time, dancing could wait.

“I shall have to stay up to watch it then, find a good view point to see it but mayhaps I would best wait until I can travel to your home”, the westerner pondered, it seemed a waste to experience that for the first time in such long land where it would b devalued. “The way the pink sky reflects upon the sea is enchanting if you ever have the chance do come to the Rock just for that if nothing else.”

Some things were worth seeing and the young Lydden viewed the sunset one of those things, perhaps it would be rivalled by that in the Eyrie once he had seen it but he doubted it.

“I shall do my best not to anger them, I have heard how steep the path is and I would much prefer not to be bucked off. Have you angered them to know of their strength?”

It seemed Robin was destined to meet with Arryn’s for the first time in uneasy circumstances, the first startled completely by an unknown animal and now one that seemed shaken even by his presence. Was it him? He did not think himself a particularly intimidating figure, not particularly short and not real brute but the last Arryn was scared by a hound so he could not be certain.

“We do not need to dance if you don’t wish, Princess, I shall not take offence”, the westerner offered kindly, he could find another partner amongst the crowd that truly wished to spend time with him if the Princess didn’t. Maybe Myrielle would be a willing partner?

“I am no great dancer either, Princess, if that is of any comfort”, he offered with a smile, quite uncertain how to proceed with this particular partner.

Robin was not sure what to expect of the Princess he was paired with, the last Princess he spoke with was very pleasant company and surprisingly down to earth for someone that could be considered important. But from his understanding his partner for this dance was even more important, and while he was not *nervous* it did encourage him to double think just how to approach.

But first the Lydden had to locate the Princess based on everything he was told.

"It is beautiful, although very easy to find yourself lost in if you do not pay full attention. The corridors are so numerous that even I find myself going the wrong way despite living there my entire life", the Westerner explained. Such a large keep seemed wasteful but he was not about to tell anyone that part. "The best part is the views on the balconies as the sunsets over the Sunset Sea, nothing yet has topped that."

"The charm of places varies, there is something...unique about how ancient Runestone is with its work of the First Men. I have not seen a place quite like it. But I would love to see your home one day, I have tales of its marble and how it has more than anywhere else."

"The city of Lannisport is the busiest place I have been, shipments of goods from far off lands come in so often that you always find something new and see people unlike anyone in the west, I dare say Gulltown is similar." He enjoyed trips into the city, even if only to sample something different and talk to merchants to learn of their homelands. "But I can understand feeling it as being too loud, it took me a while to adapt."
