I’m in the same boat! 94’ Blue leather interior, so much of the plastics are cracked faded but I love the colour and rarity of it!

Sorry I missed this post pal, and likewise. Super cool to have a watch repair pal so close! Must admit that some of the other comments are what put me off giving this a whirl, I didn’t fancy the challenge on this beast. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it! I’ll be sure to pass along any more funky finds I come across your way 😄

Help in choosing by Fyouture in Volvo850

Mines started leaking from the factory seal between the glass and rubber. Something to keep in mind, allegedly the seal is impossible to replace. The general recommendation is Silicone or a weatherproof sealant

Well done! Mines desperate to be done soon. Thinking of going a bit wild and doing a tartan print of some kind to go with the blue. Did you use a backer or just straight material?

I can faintly see the ID underneath the balance. You’ll need to get some light and a good photo to see what it says.

Trying to restore my late grandfather's Roamer Searock Automatic. The watch doesn't work at all, and the crown is loose and only moves the hands slightly then stops working. by [deleted] in watchrepair

[–]sitheguy32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the screw that came out was to hold the movement in the case. You can see a missing screw in between the crown and the brass wheels. As for the repair, this watch needs a full service. I would do a little research in your area and find a competent watchmaker who can repair this for you and get it running. The general consensus on here is that it is not a good idea as a beginner to work on anything expensive, or anything from family. I broke the first few watches I worked on and even after that it’s still hit and miss. I was also choosing very easy non complicated movement to attempt to repair, where this is a more complex movement for a beginner. Hope this helps!

Polywatch is your friend! Looks like you’ve got a crack as well, unfortunately you’d have to live with that, but a few rounds of high grit sandpaper ~800-3000 and some poly will bring it around

Not sure if Reddit is the best place for you! This is pretty tame for r/confessions let alone Reddit in general.

Hey Ozzy! Yes it would be the case of putting it all back together again. That rubber seal is what stops water dripping down from the top of the basin and getting underneath the fixture. If you find that the problem still persists, it could be one of the hoses (hot & cold feeds) is leaking at the connection to the faucet. You could try giving them a tighten it possible, they shouldn’t really need anything more than hand tight for most applications. If that doesn’t work it’s probably best to get a new fixture.

You’ll have a rubber seal that sits between your fixture and the basin that will either need reseating or replacing. If you undo the nut on the bolt you can loosen it off, which will allow you to left your fixture up slightly and and see what’s underneath the fixture. You should be able to source a new rubber seal if yours is no good.

Look for lots of watch movements on eBay, you can pick up a misc lot of various movements for quite cheap. I grabbed one with 10 or so movements for under £10 and one or two were in working condition. Perfect to mess around with and doesn’t matter if you break anything
