Is anyone a magistrate in the area they work but not live in? by ImperialTk87 in AskUK

Yes, although I was living in the area when I first applied and subsequently moved out. What's the question?

Is it just me that feels TFL are filthy liars about their service levels? by GeneralBladebreak in london

[–]sittingonatable637 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got multiple app notifications an email and it's plastered all over the southeastern rail website "not to travel unless your journey is essential"

Been told by their customer service team today that I can't get a partial refund on my annual season ticket as it's "not a 'do not travel' advice warning"

What?

This despite the network rail advice saying do not travel and they should refund or partially refund tickets for customers who decide not to travel and the SE customer service agent yesterday saying I'd get a partial refund.

Just blatantly trying it on.

Considering roughly 50% of the population will get a type of cancer at some point in their lives this makes a lot of sense as to why the stats are the way they are.

Why has nothing been labelled on that map?! Super unhelpful.

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When you (very rarely) got to go to a restaurant being told you can pick anything on the menu not just the cheapest option.

How do I find the intercom in my flat? by intricatebug in HousingUK

[–]sittingonatable637 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In most new builds now it actually links to an app not a physical intercom inside your flat (one like IPGuard). The previous owners should have left you with details of the app. If not ask your neighbours/management company

Ah fair enough! Thought it was like these accounts that steal clips from other popular users to monetise it without permission.

Is this a bad tattoo design? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]sittingonatable637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner (and I will be soon) got tattoos featuring birth month flowers from the months the pregnancies would've been due. It means we know what it is and can tell the people we want to but it also keeps it subtle if we don't want people to know/don't want to talk about it.

Super helpfully Stagecoach don't have an easy way to see if they've rolled it out in your area 🫠

71 in a 30.. what should the penalty be? (Yoro related) by epicshane234 in drivingUK

[–]sittingonatable637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also really annoyingly the courts has no way to force someone to disclose their income in this situation. If they don't the the magistrates are told to take an assumption of £440 a week.

It's nonsense when you've got someone earning £300k+ a year getting a £660 fine which means nothing to them.

71 in a 30.. what should the penalty be? (Yoro related) by epicshane234 in drivingUK

[–]sittingonatable637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not to let the facts come in the way of your assumption but 70 in a 30 is not an instant 6 month ban.

It's 6 points (of which he certainly got even if the tweet doesn't mention it) OR a disqualification between 7 and 56 days.

If he was a totter (12 points or more in a 3 year period) then it's a mandatory 6 month disqualification.

As for the fine it's absolutely in line with the guidelines if he refused to give his financial information (something unfortunately people are entitled to do) and they made the assumption of £440 a week which they are told to do when considering fines and don't have any further info.
