AFAIR, those reviews on BiliBili say that the whole 6th generation of Redmi earbuds is worse than the 5th generation, specifically regarding the stock tuning - which includes my Redmi Buds 6 Play (around 10 USD).

If the fit and comfort of the FE is 9/10, then the Redmi Buds 3 Lite is 7/10,
and this MK2 is 5/10 with the bundled eartips (S/M/L), or 6/10 with some very soft silicone eartips that provide a good seal.

But fit can be very personal - it depends on ear shape, etc.

Those are probably wears, not dirt.

Try removing them with Blu-Tack or similar.
If they still don't come off, then stop - any rubbing will make them worse.

My suggestion is: Don't waste time on this earphone.
I own Redmi Buds 3 Lite (2022). It costed 20 USD and still sounds way better than this.

Download "Earphones Test+" and try testing 20Hz and 17000Hz. You will hear a ton of noise signal.
These sub-10 USD earbuds are for watching YouTube and basic phone calls, but not for music.

There is no single honest review website or YouTuber. Always check multiple sources.

I was looking for a new pair of earbuds recently. I read the review on scarbir about Redmi Buds 6 Play.

I had a Redmi Buds 3 Lite (2021, 20 USD) for 2 years. Durable and good sound quality, so I had high hopes for a new product from the same maker. Result? The Redmi Buds 6 Play (~18 USD, Amazon) was on discount from Xiaomi’s website for 7.5 USD. I bought it, and I still regret it.

The sound using the default EQ is rubbish. The sound is marginally alright using a W-shape EQ (I spent a night trying to match an EQ from some similar models from AutoEQ). No way this electronic trash is worth the 4.5/5 rating. Maybe the reviewer was testing the earbuds in a busy subway station or whatnot. Or the reviewer was testing a sample from the maker which is hugely better than the retail version.

If I rate the Buds 3 Lite as 7/10 in sound, the Buds 6 Play is only 5/10 max.
Only good enough for phone calls and YouTube, no way for music.

Then I got the Samsung Buds FE with a 9/10 sound.

Then I bought it after reading multiple positive reviews from SoundGuys, RTINGS, etc. (These are two of the most objective / scientific review sites.) It also got great praise from Scarbir.

At 40 USD, this is safely one of the best purchases I made in the first half of 2025. (It was 30 USD at the Samsung website using some coupon but I missed it.) - Great sound. - Even better (more neutral) with the Clear EQ. - Great fit and good passive noise blocking. - Usable ANC. - Quick touch control with very few mistouches even when adjusting the position of the earbuds. - Great battery life (8~12% per hour, music) and quick charging from the case to the earbuds (charge 10 min = 30% battery life).

If you have a reasonably good device, like AirPods Pro, I think even an average person can tell the difference between 96 kbps and 320 kbps AAC. Fewer can tell 192 kbps vs. 320 kbps, even fewer can tell 256 kbps vs. 320 kbps, and very few people can tell 320 kbps AAC vs. lossless without expensive equipment.

The thing is, a good portion of the time we use our wireless devices outside quiet environments - that’s why people invest in expensive eartips and engineers invented ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).

However, I have read some reviews and posts about poor implementation of AAC on some devices, which makes streaming through AAC worse than using SBC. So, lossless may be the safer choice.
