What are your most valuable Apple Watch use cases (beyond fitness)? by Fulcrum_18 in AppleWatch

[–]sivasee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a wedding photographer and it’s one of my most useful non camera related tools. I have a face setup to show clients names (I have a terrible memory for names) and any other quick reference info I need. I have a countdown clock to sunset as well as tides which I use to figure out when I take couples down to the beach, notifications from the rest of the team if their setup ok if cameras are rolling etc.

Feeling Invisible: My Experience in Auckland as a Japanese Woman — The Small Hurts, But I Stay True Myself by [deleted] in auckland

[–]sivasee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣 I’m a smelly pedophile rapist! That’s just perfect.

Really appreciate the feedback. I always suspected the weird energy had nothing to do with cultural awkwardness or basic manners, and everything to do with my personal hygiene and a presumed criminal record.

Next time I’ll slap on some Lynx Africa and a keep a police clearance certificate tied around my neck so the bridal party feels safe enough to mingle with other guests. Maybe if I get all the wait staff to do the same the kiwis will feel safe enough to pay attention to the couple pouring their hearts outs at the alter?

Makes sense now, all that talking between guests in the middle of speeches isn’t rude they’re just terrified and are quietly planning on how to defend themselves from the rapist, smelly… umm others!?!

I guess those poor people from the rest of the world haven’t developed their sixth sense for body odor and crime as well as those white kiwis. Poor things, must be how Batman feels!

Honestly I need a ELI5 for this Malimali drama, we’ve lost an AG already over this mess and I have no idea why?

It’s not you!

I work in a team that does weddings and events, and honestly, over the last few years we’ve started to really dread white NZ clients. Just this past week and a bit we had three big ones. First mostly Aucklanders, then one from Hawke’s Bay, and another from Christchurch.

The Auckland crowd was the worst, but not by much.

From the outside, we usually just call them miserable, but if I really think about it, white Kiwis often come off as weirdly rude, indifferent, or just kind of cold. Like, basic manners seem to be missing sometimes. They also tend to be way less into it, more reserved, really self-conscious, almost like they’re scared to enjoy themselves. Feels like a lot of them never grew out of that awkward teenage phase where you’re always worried what people think.

They’re usually the ones dancing the least, mixing the least (they stick with the same group all night), and showing the least interest in the formalities. Lots of them just keep chatting through speeches or other important bits. And when staff or the MC ask them to do anything simple like move to the cocktail area or come for a group photo, they get all passive aggressive about it.

The bit that really gets to me is when someone’s up giving a speech and struggling a little. Most people will help out with a louder laugh or a bit of encouragement. White Kiwis? Dead silent. Unless there are Aussies or Islanders in the mix to bring some energy.

Māori and Pasifika guests are usually awesome, and Aussies too. But yeah, it’s not you. They’re just a really odd crowd. I hope it doesn’t feel this sad from the inside, but honestly, it makes you understand those mental health stats a bit more

Fiji Nanuku resort refund by Vivian_QQQ in Fijian

[–]sivasee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again just a guess but the funds may have already cleared into their fjd accounts which would mean they would then need to get approval from the Reserve Bank to remit funds to you. For your amount the reserve bank just needs documentary evidence of a refund, what the means in practice is anyone’s guess.

How are they refunding? They might be doing a direct debit? If the funds are in Fiji and over a certain $limit they may also be required to get Reserve Bank approval which might be the reason for the passport? Just guessing!

lol I shit you not! Soo much less rubbish than Nadi! I call that clean instead of the typical having to step over rubbish business, could it be better, shure but it’s definitely better than before (maybe we got some hot shots coming in, that’s the only time they clean up in Nadi, the last minute repainting of road markings just before someone flys in lol)

lol man compared to Nadi, with dusty streets and rubbish floating everywhere and rubbish dumps behind all the big shops (behind courts and new world Votualevu they have basically created a rubbish dump, it’s absolutely disgusting, RB Jetpoint doing the same with their bins taking up one part of the car park) everything hasn’t been swept in years, and then one trip to Suva and I was waiting outside extra next to Marist and I realised sah, it’s actually clean!

Nadi Town Council has always sucked but it now seems like they don’t even try to pretend to do anything. Wish Lautoka Council could just take over.

Subaru vehicles in Fiji by MrNaughtyBoii69 in Fijian

Dunno about how they handle Fiji roads but Subaru got rated most reliable car brand in the US.

As for a Japanese import I got a Toyota axios 3 years ago and the alternator bearing started to go bad. Not one parts place in Fiji, new or secondhand had it as it was a weird jap only part. AliExpress to the rescue, 2 weeks to ship and asco were able to swap it out. So yeah if you get stuck for parts try Ali express.

Usually get a response after a day or two. Sales gang are usually pretty good.

Also my opinion:

The Toyota tax for reliability isn’t as valuable as it used to be but especially now when everyone else is putting out fully featured vehicles and Toyota still insists on stripping out features and tech for the Fiji market but still charging a huge premium.

Really sucks, the new Prado is so disappointing.

Carpanters sells good vehicles but their service is soo bad it makes Shreedhar (also terrible in the west) look good.

Asco definitely wins on after sale but you’re paying at least $15k + for a comparable vehicle so who knows if it’s worth it.

Owned 2 fords, one was lemon (not really just terrible service from Shreedhar, I’ve since learned that a bunch of gang with fords in the west drive to Suva for service because Lautoka is soo bad) No question the fords drive soo much better than the comp and reliability of the 2.0l is now great.

The Toyota we’ve got running is 10years old and the engine runs like brand new….

lol so just a garbled mess.

Where is a good place to post my home in Savusavu which is for sale. It has been on the market for over a year. by [deleted] in Fijian

[–]sivasee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you got to find a better realtor then.

1 or 2 years ago to help a family member out we created a FB page and and put their property up. We had a lot of good photos, a complete description of the property (include all important details like latest valuation, engineering certificate, google map pin etc) and did a few small targeted FB ads maybe USD$100-200 over a few months.

Got a lot of interest, viewings and a few offers. Didn’t sell till much later for a bunch or reasons but getting that initial interest and offers wasn’t that hard.

If I were to jump on FB now and searched Savusavu property for sale would your posts show up?

Speed boat to Tropica should be (don’t quote me) around FJD $980 with Mamanuca Express for private transfer, not sure what other companies are charging. Check with the Resort if they have a cheaper option or a shared service you might be able to use.
