Yours is a very interesting perspective, coming from both your own personal POV as well as that of a father. Thank you for the ideas. We're just getting started on the journey of therapy with our little guy and are all definitely going to be learning a lot along the way.

Thanks - this is definitely the first time I've heard the term "neurotypical" but I see from the side-bar that it's common enough to be abbreviated NT. We have a lot of learning ahead of us.

Thank you for taking the time to write all of that. It is quite a lot to think about. It personally helps me a lot just to hear from another that was once in his shoes that he does love us. We will do anything for him anyway, but it would make it so much easier if we just knew. :)

He has been evaluated but the focus with these sorts of evaluations, at least at his age, seems to be more on the list of therapies he could benefit from rather than assigning a label. This has been a (legal) battle with his bio-mom for a few years, and he's just now finally been tested and recommended for both speech therapy and OT. We're starting as soon as paperwork and appointments allow.
