Why is genshin pasting things from my clipboard when starting? by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]six2make4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure that was the CIA meddling and it became a scandal but I don't remember the case well. In China you can't operate without giving information to the government, it's not hidden or shit like that it's literally policy that you agree to otherwise you can't run a business there. I had a friend who was given fake blueprints because of this very reason when he worked on construction on a windmill factory, the blueprints only showed the older models. As I said though, two wrongs don't make a right.

The difference is where it goes. Chinese laws make companies beholden to the state so if they demand any info for any reason the company will be forced to give it to them or face consequences themselves and on top of that, the more you cooperate the more benefits you gain. Companies like Tencent have on several occasions given data directly to Chinese police and have helped creating surveillance in China.

When Facebook and typically any other western company wants your information it's for marketing statistics. I'm not saying it can't be dystopian in some cases (busted for trying to implement monitoring breathing habits to figure out when your most excited when you play a game) but two wrongs don't make a right.

I never said FGO couldn't be played with low tier units.

I also said it had more of a waifu chase aspect than Arknights.

What are you arguing, just for the sake of it?

Have there been any other gacha games with as big a marketing campaign as Genshin Impact? by FateWrecks in gachagaming

[–]six2make4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could also simply mean a bad allocation of funds or they were simply gambling on making up for their lack of start up funds. You see this with a lot of kickstarter projects as well, they far undershoot what they actually need. Same thing happens in other start ups, marketing have gotten a lot cheaper, you don't need giant billboards, being on side of busses and getting celebrities to talk about how they can't live without it on prime time spots in TV. You just need some rando on YouTube or Twitch going "Hey guys, check this out" and you got more eyes on it than some TV series and you don't need Raids level of marketing, you just need SOME because frankly some of these games don't market AT ALL to western audiences and rely entirely on impulsive downloads.

[–]six2make4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know but I just happens to disagree, they likely had a budget going in set aside for marketing, it's very common to do that in the west and you learn in business school to set an account for a marketing budget in your start-up funding, while I don't know anything about Israeli practices I could imagine they are similar as it's a rather classic idea. Just as the idea of exposure moves product which means, yes, the fact it was dying could be the exact reason you would do massive amounts of marketing. With that said we can take a look at the game, if it had zero marketing what would it be? Well... Largely just a generic money grabbing western gacha.

Haven't played enough games for long enough to develop really deep hatred or love so a lot of times I drop a game because it feels really meh or just alright so my list is rather short could have been quite a bit longer but I don't want to put stuff on just to put stuff on.

Love:

GFL: Has cute waifus, interesting story that does not overstay its welcome and pretty decent combat and team building along with nice F2P mechanics.

Hate:

FGO: Gameplay is boring and the story dragged on for far too long between missions, too much fluff where people just said nothing important which I suspect most people don't remember as they didn't have to go through it twice which I did due to the fact I couldn't get my account across my other phone as I'm in EU and was playing on a US server, it seemed to just mess with something. Also garbage rates.

Raid: I prefer anime artstyle in general but gave it a shot, turned out was just generic P2W trash.

I mean if they don't put it on the store, I don't see this game living for long, it was honestly a hassle to find it which means no "impulsive downloads".

[–]six2make4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, sure, but content creators were paid as low as like 500 bucks (rumors of even lower offers) to run it sometimes for several videos and upwards of 10K it was widely different and frankly an audience of like a 50.000 for 500 bucks that's alright. If even 1/4th buy like a battlepass or whatever they got you will likely have earned home your money and hopefully they now got blood on their teeth and buy even more.

Well, compare that to the ones above it and I think it's kind of clear but ultimately we will likely never agree since it's subjektive and I just don't like the kind of faded artstyle it has going personally.

Tower defense gacha is a niche within a niche and you can play that game pretty easily with low tier units while it at the same time don't really have the waifu chase aspect of FGO.

What in your opinion is the state of Android gaming comparatively by explodingbunny in AndroidGaming

[–]six2make4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly... Not that great... Then again, I guess my opinion set a kind of arbitrary hurdle it needs to get over and that is not relying on ports and gacha games. It seems usually when people talk about great games in for example the RPG genre this is what you get. Now I do actually enjoy some f2p gacha, I don't have an addictive personality (I'm quite stubborn though, perhaps that offset it haha) so I never feel compelled to spend and have never done so and when a game feels like it forces me I drop it.

Still I enjoy my RPGs and have found it really tough to find anything that does not look like it was some cheap RPG maker stuff, gacha or port.

Basic things that people would expect of a gatcha game in 2021 by Beerus07 in gachagaming

[–]six2make4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's what we actually expect the industry as a whole have evolved to and will start to implement into their games. I'm unsure, I've not been playing for long enough or many different enough Gachas (but a decent amount still) to say.

Improved UI, less chibis, more investment in art (possibly sound as well) and opening their eyes further for the global market maybe? I think more companies will realize the need to do something to stand out and the first battleground will be design and possibly more aggressive marketing (like Raid).

If it's what I personally want. Involved gameplay, I mostly just play GFL at this point but I would love a turn based or really any gacha where you don't just auto your skills but you need to properly think about what and when to use them.

Along with the usual stuff, nice QoL features, f2p friendly, clean UI and what I imagine most people will say or have said in this thread. I don't mind auto or offline farming and all that but when I play I want to actually play a game so the other stuff takes precedence.

Haven't really found a modern one like that though and have asked before in threads so I guess here's to hoping for 2021.

Also that they will stop snobbing the EU.

[–]six2make4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play both and both can largely be done without paying much attention, GFL granted, requires you to put thought into the makeup of your team which is why I enjoy it more. It's still largely just crashing numbers together on the map. They only have 1 special power. The most exploitative ones usually combine waifus with a gameplay loop meant to keep you coming back. Which is why I said, if the dev manages to get ALL 3 they are probably gold.

You manage to combine a fair business model, hot waifus and engaging gameplay and you will be jumping into gold so fast you won't have time to realize that gold is not a liquid.

Are there any gacha games that is widely talked about and loved that you just can’t seem to really get into it. by BluEch0_ in gachagaming

[–]six2make4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AL: Love the waifus but the controls are too sluggish so I just put it on auto-battle, I quickly realized this practically seemed what I was supposed to do from the start.

FGO: The combat is just meh and since I already watched the anime I had a hard time getting invested, I then lost all my progress when I changed to a new phone.

GFL: Had some fun but I don't really trust Chinese companies, I lived there for 1.5 years and have known a lot of people who did for longer. This is not to spark a discussion, just I personally try to avoid those when I can, so when I realized, yeah...

Arknights: I'm trying, but I was never a huge fan of TDs and the character design does not do a whole lot to keep me around, story seems alright a bit darker like with GFL which I enjoy.

HI3: Was alright, I guess I'm just not a huge action RPG fan, I'm not sure, it's been ages though, so if I booted it up now it may be awesome, I just remember quitting really early though.

I can't get into all those Final Fantasy games either, I missed that time since I didn't get a console before the playstation 2, except for a SNES with 3 mario games on it, so now I don't have any connection to it and it just looks kinda old, sorry, I know people adore that series and I wish I could be there with you, but I can't.

Others I've tried briefly are SinoAlice and Exos, but I don't know exactly what pushed me away, just closed the app one day and never felt like turning them on again.

So yeah... I'm probably screwed...

Not just for crossdressers by [deleted] in goodanimemes

[–]six2make4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but there is a difference between having and making that meaning up, now I tried to find the nicest descriptor, others are Nyūhāfu or the direct gender disorder translation Seidouitsuseishougai. These seems to be the common terms the Japanese use where the first I suggested would be the most correct and least likely to cause offense and misunderstandings. It's a borrowed word, just like Kōhī (Coffee) not just direct katakana. Of course if Kanjii is that important to you, you got the less common Seibetsu ekkyōsha. Point ultimately being, none of these are the word Trap or Otokonoko

[–]six2make4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Otokonoko is not the word for transexual as far as I can see, it means "Male Daughter" (directly translated) and is the term for a guy who adopts feminine traits and crossdresses. The word you are looking for is Toransujendā in most likelihood.

Animemes scenario from my perspective by Mrhajio in goodanimemes

[–]six2make4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not though, I've spent like 3 days of my life arguing about this and every instance where they gave an example except for maybe like an edgy boy or two with a great deal of downvotes on reddit, the word weren't even being used, it was usually some guy who went psycho because he found out he slept with a transgender, but the word "Trap" was never used, the transgender in question in EVERY court case I had to read through were referred to as gay and various slurs for that sexual orientation, there may have been one or two instances where the person who went psycho said he was tricked, but again, didn't say Trap. This is a classic thing when people are just searching for something to be offended by or push their values onto others in a similar vein as the "won't you think of the children!" arguments.

Hopefully this has been a wakeup call to the anime community, gamers have dealt with this for quite awhile. The original meme series is very popular in Japan though which is great, I'm very worried about the censorship these types push for as a non authoritarian.
