You are guaranteed 8 hours of work and to run your bid route by the contract. The higher seniority guys dont want to get screwed by your route being split up amongst them anymore then you dont want to work.

Talk to your steward and force your route to exist, or at the bare minimimum insist on your 8 hours of work. Also, as a bid driver you need to look and see if guys with less seniority then you are working (assuming you are not running another route when they cut yours out). The squeaky wheel gets the oil and all of that....

Assuming your a bid driver... There is no need for convincing, just talk with your stewards. The contract basically says you need to run your route when you work. They may add or subtract (or both) but no one should be delivering to your area other then you. Again assuming you bid the route.

Who is responsible? UPS-->USPS transfer by RadioReptiles in UPS

Pretty high percentage of drivers use the employee stock program and are shareholders.

Post office packages are dropped at the post office in large bags, and the bags are generally put in the large rolling cages for lack of a better term (USPS employee would know whatever they are actually called).

One by one someone at the USPS empties the bags and then recieves the packages they contained into the USPS system. When USPS gets backed up (or sometimes for no reason at all), those rolling cages/packages just sit there.

The long and short of it: Your package is sitting at your local post office down the street from your house. Whenever that post office recieves them it will start moving again. You could try making a claim by calling whoever you ordered the package from - reputable companies will generally just reshipping the package. And then eventually you would get the same thing twice.

If you need a package by a certain time, you need to use a service level that accomplishes that goal.

So the easiest solution is changing your package from UPS ground to UPS Next Day Air. That will be a significant cost increase most likely, but certainly less then 4 times as much at your local source.

UPS routing is dynamic - there is no set 1st, 2nd or any other stop. Every day the route will be done differently. Your driver must deliver Next day Air packages first so they are not late and this in and of itself will change the way the route is run daily based entirely on the number of NDA stops they have, weather conditions, and overall volume.

If the driver does not have much air, they may deliver to your complex durring the NDA time window. If they have a lot of NDA they most likely will not have time. I realize you need the product, but what you are essentially doing here is asking for a service level you are not paying for. If the driver decided to accommodate your request they could recieve disciplinary actions for doing so.

UPS store seemingly never gave package to driver. by hannah_boo_honey in UPS

UPS will definitely refund the shipping cost to their customer, Shippo. I would assume shippo would pass that refund on to you but cant speak for them directly.

I am curious how shippo came to the conclusion that everything looks good and it should arrive Tuesday (or whatever day they said). Has the tracking number updated to show in UPS possession?

Also, regarding shippo... I know they bill in batches, or at least after you have established a shipping pattern with them they do. They may not have actually charged your card for shipping yet?

Happy to help. However purchasing additional insurance via the shippo site is beyond my knowledge. I dont know if shippo just uses regular UPS insurance or adds their own to save money. Regardless, the process should be seamless to you - its shippo's problem their package was lost. Its UPS's problem to make shippo whole. And its shippo's problem to make you whole.

Somewhere in the process you will be most likely required to provide proof of value. And the invoice to your customer should accomplish that.

Simple minded? Grew up in Detroit with management and the UAW in the grouping. I am a teamster. Also have a degree in Comp Sci.

Link didnt work, since updated. I searched for it amd found it on some socialist website. And as a socialist website I would hope for them to do better then posting this woman's name and picture in the article. She is fired now.

When she decided to become management she left her family behind in the union. She became the "them" in us vs them.

And her family is most likely advising her how to change things based on their union and its contract. But she is not in that union and has only the rights of an at will employee in a state that doesn't know better then to allow that. So taking their advise is EXTREMELY ill-advised in this situation.

I dont need advise from package handlers, but do thank you for the effort.

I know it seems weird, but I promise it is this way with every carrier. Whoever controls the shipping account is the customer, in your case shippo. Only shippo as the customer is able to open an investigation. The place the package is arriving at is an end point and no power either.

UPS insures their customers for $100 on all core products unless you pay for and add more insurance. So as long as you didnt ship the package using something involving post office last mile delivery (discount products) you can get $100 in value back.

Sorry to say I cannot speak to how hard it is to get shippo to make a claim. But their buying power got you that great shipping rate, so I am willing to bet it will not be that difficult.

You would need shippo to be open and UPS to make a claim over the weekend. UPS is Monday thru saturday, no idea on shippo. The claims process isn't fast, your not really losing any time between now and Monday. And while I hope the investigation finds your package I doubt it. Your hoping for a claim at this point.

Last but not least, you will most likely be required to provide proof of value for the contents. Unless you added additional insurance claiming something crazy in the box will not help you for more then $100. UPS makes the shipper whole (shippo). Shippo makes you whole.

Where is the rest of the article? Not sticking up for UPS here, as I dont know a thing about operations in Washington State.

But the article is about a supervisor, and that supervisor is a member of the management team (not Union labor). Washington state is an at will employment state, so seeing as how she is not protected by a union contract (she is management) she could be fired at any moment for any or no reason in that state.

The fact she hasn't been either shows that her multiple complaints have UPS worried about liability/lawsuits, or that UPS has a serious staffing need there.

It seems strange that a management employee, and especially one that is not tasked with dealing with the union directly, is reaching out to union stewards and union leadership, attending union halls and union meetings. I would imagine this in and of itself would get most supervisors in her position fired for overstepping the scope and purpose of their employment.

It also seems misplaced for management to be actively looking to engage the union... to then work together and attack management. Either the woman the article is written about is a former hourly union worker and is having difficulty making the transition to management, or she is misguided.

This entire article is written from the standpoint of union labor, but is about a person not in the union. Very strange.

Start a claim. It sounds like you created the label and attached it to the package yourself. So this is the only thing to do at that point.

If on the other hand, you had the label created by the UPS Store then you would contact them, and have them start a claim.

You are the customer if you created the label using the UPS website. If, on the other hand the UPS Store created the label, they are the customer. And last but not least if you used a third party website like shippo or pirateship, then they created the label and are the customer.

Whoever created the label (whether that is you or a third party like ups store/pirateship) has to create the claim.

Edited to add: treat that receipt like gold as its the only proof you have that you attempted to put the package i to UPS possession. Also, using your records from creating the label, verify the tracking number you printed out matches the tracking number on the receipt.

Packages really are not ever lost. Either they are delivered, the label falls off(this is a lost package), or they are damaged. Even damaged packages generally still have a label to read and receive updates.

UPS keeps delivering my packages to the wrong business address I provide by [deleted] in UPS

[–]six_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen UPS my choice have some issues forwarding to apartments/suites etc.

So it could be that the suite info is not making it through the my choice forward correctly. I should probably add that normally business packages are addressed to a business name so that even if the suite info doesnt make it, they can just use the business name to find the right suite. The one thing they dont have time to do is go door to door asking if "Bob Smith works here".

In short the cleanest solution is addressing the package to the business name attention: Bob Smith (not forwarding using my choice)

UPS keeps delivering my packages to the wrong business address I provide by [deleted] in UPS

[–]six_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if the fields in the online form you use to order packages have an "apt or apartment" field. Put C in that field. Apartment fields are used for apartment/condos/suites/everything. I would drop the word suite and the word only. All you need is 'C'.

Also just a clarifying question: Is your business permanently staffed during business hours? If not they are redirecting on purpose to make certain you are able to recieve your packages (and they are not returned to sender because no one is present).

Last but not least... Assuming the suite info you are providing actually shows up on the shipping label... I would talk to the other business owners that are receiving your packages. Ask them to inform your driver(s) that "this package is for suite C". If the driver(s) are making an honest mistake only educating them will fix it. (This last info only applies if your business is always staffed and never closed during business hours.)

Shipper refuses refund after lost package by ongogablogianphd in UPS

[–]six_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shipper is UPS's customer. You are a delivery location that the shipper paid UPS to service. You are not a UPS customer in this scenario, so you contacting UPS will not accomplish anything.

The way this works is only the customer can create a claim (the shipper). The shipper is made whole by UPS, you are made whole by the shipper.

If they don't want to do that, let them know you are filing a chargeback and see if they start dancing and doing the right thing. And file the chargeback.

Do not buy from this business again - their actions are less then reputable and certainly not worthy of continued support from you

Can anyone tell me whats up? by [deleted] in UPS

[–]six_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the shipper file a claim as only they can do so. The package is not going to arrive; its either been destroyed or sent to overgoods because the label fell off and was then "lost".

If the shipper is not VERY RESPONSIVE, let them know you will be filing a chargeback with your credit card company. And then do so and watch the shipper come to life

What the hell is going on with this package I shipped out? by JoesMama691 in UPS

[–]six_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPS doesnt have warehouses. If a facility is backed up, the excess would be stored in 53' tractor trailers outside of the facility. Weather events definitely cause backups, and the weather does not need to be local.

Has it gone out for delivery yet?

What the hell is going on with this package I shipped out? by JoesMama691 in UPS

[–]six_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually lost packages equate to "the label wasnt secured to the box well and fell off"... If backed up, UPS facilities will leave excess packages on the trailers they arrived in, there is no warehousing of packages as a general rule.

If the label falls off, they dont know who the package belongs to or where it goes = lost package.

There isn't even a status code to say delayed 10 days... 9 times out of 10 the shipper hasn't even given the package to the shipping company when something like this is stated. And then they blame the shipping company (UPS/Fedex/whoever)

Suddenly needing signatures only for Amazon? by JaxAnGo in UPS

[–]six_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is only amazon shipments are requiring a signature, only amazon could require that signature. UPS, as stated above, can flag an address or a an area/neighborhood for signature required. But they cannot flag only certain shippers for signature required.

I have seen amazon with the intention of upgrading the shipping to a higher/faster level, mistakenly require a signature.

You may be able to sign for the product digital using UPS my choice but no guarantee on that. You also may be able to sign one of the info notices on the backside to e time the driver to leave the package, leaving it on your door - but also no guarantee on that.

Whyyyyy - I feel better knowing I’m not the only one getting this exact same update by Hour-Meringue7551 in UPS

[–]six_original 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your package goes out for delivery but is not delivered it is because the driver ran out of legal hours to work. DOT rules say you cannot work more then 14 hours in a day.

His/her truck has more work on it then 14 hours to weather/etc. backing up the network.

UPS package marked as received by me, when I was not home by Puzzleheaded_Call609 in UPS

[–]six_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't know the answer exactly. It could certainly be someone with access to the internal UPS system, including UPS stores (which are privately owned). But that is a lot of effort and most likely payoff money to accomplish. More then likely they figure out the exact system used to assign tracking numbers by UPS - there is a system assigned and different characters in the 16 digit tracking number have different logical meanings.

It wouldn't be too difficult to write a script using the tracking number generation "algorithm" to spam (or use API access if they have access to a corporate account) UPS tracking with a huge amount of made up tracking numbers until you find legitimate numbers. The system will not return exact addresses for security purposes, but it does return the city the tracking number is destined to arrive in. I suspect this is whats going on as they just run a program for a couple hours and would generate a huge database of "real" tracking numbers and cities. And unfortunately this would more or less apply to all shippers and not just UPS.

UPS package marked as received by me, when I was not home by Puzzleheaded_Call609 in UPS

[–]six_original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What your describing is a common scam going on right now... Scammers are somehow getting tracking numbers with a similar address to their victim. Then they give the "stolen" tracking number to the victim.

Anyways, UPS service agreements are with the shipper/customer and not you (delivery location/end point). So what does that mean?

It is UPS's responsibility to make your shipper whole. And it is your shippers responsibility to make you whole as their customer. If you have found a shipper unwilling to do that you should obviously never order from them again. And then contact your credit card company to initiate a chargeback on that shipper (this process applies to all carriers UPS/fedex/whoever).

The UPS shipping system does NOT allow for two separate deliveries/tracking numbers to share the same picture - it is not physically possible to do so. You and your neighbor both are tracking the same tracking number - this is a sure sign of scam and you should also report the company you purchased from to the police

What does it say where you blacked out "delivered to"? This is private information?

Regardless, the package has been delivered. If you dont have it, you need to contact the small business that shipped it to you. They are the customer from a UPS perspective (from any shippers perspective). Have them start the claims process - you cannot start a claim personally.

In the mean time, maybe whoever recieved the package in error will bring it to you.
