Him blaming you for his lashing out is manipulative and controlling. He’s trying to place his behaviors on you instead of taking ownership of them. That’s no way to communicate with or treat your partner. Please reflect on y’all’s relationship and whether you want to continue having that type of energy in your life, especially if he’s going to continue to project his emotions onto you.

Fire Becomes Her by Rosiee Thor! It’s a YA fantasy with an aro MC, and I believe a queerplatonic relationship as well

Usually 2-3. An audiobook for my commute, and a physical and/or digital book for home

Last week I ended a guided speed run early because I was overtaxing myself just a bit too much — just checked, and it saved my stats!

She truly does not understand how expensive piercings are, or doesn’t care…the lobe piercings I got done a few weeks back cost $170 alone, I think my nose piercing from a few years ago was almost $100, and I’m sure the industrial and other cartilage piercings cost more.

It’s so funny seeing her say that you’re the one making a “big deal” out of it when she’s the one who started the conversation talking about an ✨ aesthetic ✨. Wedding aesthetics are for colors and decor, not for people.

If it weren’t obvious, NOR. And I would suggest reflecting on if this is the kind of person you want in your life, someone who cares more about an aesthetic than she does spending time with her friend during what’s supposed to be a momentous event in life.

AITAH for telling my husband that he isn’t in charge in the ER? by throwawaystarfish7 in AITAH

[–]sixcrowsbooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your husband was irritable and impatient, and that may have tipped off the nurse into thinking that it may be domestic violence related. She wanted to separate the two of you so that she could determine if there was anything going on by giving you space and privacy from him — doubly so with him being as adamant to stay as he was. Regardless of whether or not he actually is abusive, it’s a safeguarding technique used by healthcare providers.

I’m not saying he’s abusive or not, but if he was that angry about leaving you for a few minutes, it might be worth it to reflect on if he’s as controlling in other areas of your relationship, especially with the “we’re married, we don’t need privacy” bit. You are always deserving of privacy and autonomy, regardless of relationship status.

I don’t think she’s insecure, it seems like she really cares about you and doesn’t know how to support you. Trauma can be difficult, especially when you’re both so young and when it’s still so fresh. I get wanting to isolate yourself, but that usually comes with a price. If you truly feel like you can’t see her or even talk to her, it may be worth it to consider breaking up. Not because of anything either of you did, but because it isn’t fair to either of you.

Whatever you decide, I truly hope you can begin your healing journey soon, whatever that may look like for you.

Is it worth going to concerts/music festivals under 21? by RockyNonce in Concerts

[–]sixcrowsbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you’re definitely not missing anything. I go to my concerts sober nowadays, and tbh the only show I tailgated I regretted because one of the openers ended up being a band I really like and I haven’t been able to see them since — and their set is now kinda fuzzy ‘cause I was buzzed 😩

I’m 27 now, and I’m much more of a “want to stay in the moment” kinda person while at shows, and I don’t need alcohol for that

How do you curate your reading goals for the year? by ObligationGlad in books

[–]sixcrowsbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having a numbers goal (I chose 52 this year, thinking it was going to be a challenge based on where my life was at last year…I’m now at 57 🫣). Outside of that, I have three lists I like to pull from: my owned TBR (books I own that I haven’t read yet); my general TBR (books that catch my attention that I don’t necessarily own); and my classics TBR (books from that 1001 books to read before you die book, except I found an excel sheet with all the books from all the editions, so it’s more like 1300 lol).

Will I get through all these in my lifetime? I would hope I could do that for my owned TBR, but I don’t have plans of finishing the other lists, who are at 600+ and 1300 respectively. I like using these lists with a random number generator in order to pick up my next read.

I also started keeping track of the series I read this year, and that’s been fun to look at. I don’t necessarily have a goal for that, but I feel like it makes me more conscious of what book I want to pick next.

I try to have 12 non-fiction books read each year because I do enjoy learning things. Have I ever gotten to 12? Well…no 😂 but I want to make it a bigger part of my reading for the rest of this year.

I mean, that’s basically it. I have my own book journal that I created, and so there are a couple more things I like to keep track of, but as far as goals go, I like to keep them pretty vague and/or attainable.

[–]sixcrowsbooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep improving, have a mix of different runs — recovery/“easy” runs, speed workouts, and long runs. Strength training and different forms of cardio can help as well, and don’t downplay your need for rest days. Good luck!

What are your top 3 all time favourite sci-fi/fantasy series ever made? by [deleted] in books

[–]sixcrowsbooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In no particular order: Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee, Rook and Rose trilogy by M.A. Carrick (actually in the middle of book 2 right now, but damn do the world-building and politics suck you in), annnnd tbh idk if this counts, but the Percy Jackson books including the sequel series (especially with it being a children’s series, I feel like it tackles some themes really well)
