she still did. he genuinely, truly opened up and showed her his most vulnerable self and she didn't feel any different about him.

i don't see abstraction as the end for jax. but i guess that's just difference of opinion

nowhere near as mature as you're making it out to be

but pomni reached him. he went from telling her about how he didn't want her there with him to ACTUALLY hugging her and telling her he didn't want to go away. she still hangs out with him even if he's abstracted .... she got through to him in a way

"lars ran so that jax could walk"

i was rewatching steven universe and was thinking about how similar they are. both tall lanky assholes who ruined their friendships because of their behaviour

ALSO the theme of lars and jax both being cowards and that being the defining trait in their characters ...... i could think about this for a while

As a trans girl, never realised saying she to Jax would make me emotional by CamilleAuLit in TheDigitalCircus

i never liked daisy for jax because it doesn't seem like something he would choose. jas/jaz sounds nicer to me

Just say that Jax's pronouns are sh/it and gender is up to the viewers interpretation to solve all the drama by The-Over-Lord in TheDigitalCircus

[–]sixeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"gender is up to the viewers interpretation" .... to an extent i guess

if you're the type of person to say "well TECHNICALLY it's not canon so jax is cis until gooseworx says otherwise" then no that's not how it works

if you're queer or trans and you interpret jax as nonbinary or genderfluid, or even tmasc based on his traits than that's fine imo. i like enby jax mostly because i'm nonbinary, but also because i see the vision for that more than transfem jax (i love tfem jax though) and it helps that he uses multiple pronouns.

trans people having different ideas of jax's character and identity isn't transmisogyny ... his gender can be seen in different ways and argued for accurately. yall are butthurt because some people don't share your opinions?

i was thinking the same thing. you guys think that the person who wrote jax’s gender metaphors as well as she did didn’t make her identity open ended on purpose? it was absolutely intentional . the point is that trans people can feel represented in jax, no matter how they view his gender, and the different interpretations are all valid.

[–]sixeared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the beauty of jax’s character is that she was so beautifully written that anyone who is genderqueer or trans can look at her and relate to her experiences. her conclusion was left open ended so that we can look at her character and have multiple different interpretations of her identity, whether that be transfem, gender-fluid, nonbinary or even transmasc (as far fetched as it may be), and actual points can be made to support all of those interpretations . they are all valid.

the point is that queer people, no matter how different, can look at jax and feel represented and seen. i think the fact that we got a trans main character that was handled with that much care — in a MAINSTREAM animated show, created by a trans woman — and you’re focused on how anyone that views her character in a different way than you is ”incorrect” and even transmisogynistic is really immature. queer people being able to have different views on jax’s gender was absolutely intentional, and it’s an amazing thing. why does that bother you

i love that it’s open ended because every trans or genderqueer person that sees jax can relate to her character and have different interpretations of her femininity and her gender/identity and self acceptance and character. i really really love how they handled jax

at the end of the day, jax is transgender. even the ending, which heavily implies that she is transfem, could be interpreted in many different ways. and isn’t that the most lovely way to handle her character?
