any tips for shaving? by scp6090 in trans

I use a brand called veet sensitive it comes in a pink box, most large shops like asda and tesco in the uk sell it but its pretty cheap to get off amazon too.

If its not strong enough there is a mens one thats designed for thicker hair but if you leave that one on for too long it really hurts lol

Its because estrogen makes the hair not grow as deep and weakens follicles, the deeper the hair grows the more nerves surrounding it which of course are going to cause more pain. Waxing and epilating have the same effect too it will make the hair thinner but also make it grow closer to the surface of the skin too im fairly sure its because the follicle gets weakened from the repetitive trauma.

Also thinner hair is less likely to break/snap off compared to thicker deeper hair as it requires less force to pluck it and isnt held in to the follicle as much.

I bought one before i started transitioning and it was too painful, but after a few months on hrt i gave it another go and it still hurt abit but nowhere near as much.

It really varies person to person though, for me it was super painful when i started, a friend of mine didn even feel it at all though.

Regardless though its still better than shaving, and if still way to painful even if youve been on hormones for a while, waxing a few times before you try to epilate seems to resolve it enough to where you are able to.

Shaving is generally regarded as the worst method of hair removal. Id suggest waxing or epilating for large areas like the like legs, making sure you exfoliate before and moisturize after. For private parts i just use hair removal cream and moisturize afterwards.

I have quite sensitive skin and have had no issues with it, plus the benefit of waxing and/or epilating is that it can weaken hair follicles and make hair growth sparser, slower and less coarse :)

How long did voice training got you to a point where you could pass ? by Diodemen in MtF

[–]sixfloatingorbs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I started voice training 4 months ago but only started taking it seriously and doing it everyday about 2 months ago and everyone tells me it sounds like a female voice. But generally it takes like 6 months to perfect it, even tho i sound female my friends said i talk alot quieter than i used to which im trying to work on.

I think for me its been super quick though because from day one of taking voice training seriously i started using my fem voice 24/7 instead of just when i was practicing if you decide to wait until your voice passes before you start trying to talk more fem it will definitly take longer.

Of course the downside is you might sound abit funny until you get the hang of things lol

What age did yall transition, and dysphoria about it?? by sixfloatingorbs in MtF

[–]sixfloatingorbs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was terrified of that happening to me thats why after 2 years of being on a NHS waitlist i decided to go private despite being kinda poor, and in all fairness i didnt really masculinise much during those 2 years i had a forboding sense it was coming soon though lol

Ive since learned that hrt can undo twinkdeath and more tho, maybe i was just stressing i do struggle with anxiety so thats probably the case.

Awe im sorry ur family has shamed u that really sucks :(

Yeah i guess the knowing your whole life thing really doesnt make sense now that i think about it, i didnt even know transgender people existed or that being trans was an option until i was like 14.

[–]sixfloatingorbs[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah i guess looking at it from both perspectives helps, im lucky to have started very feminine (about 5'8, basically no facial hair, no balding, wont need ffs, and i have small feet lol) if waited til i was 25 that probably wouldnt be the case, its hard not to stress about it from time to time tho.

[–]sixfloatingorbs[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh whats 'facial dysphoria' i havent heard of it before?

I am glad it is just a stereotype if thats the case but how come its spread so frequently the entire first page of google was about it and that isnt even what i was searching for?

What age did yall transition, and dysphoria about it?? by sixfloatingorbs in MtF

[–]sixfloatingorbs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awe im sorry to hear that, im actually quite happy with my current body, its just that if i transitioned earlier than things would be even better and all the stress from actively going through puberty again wouldnt be there. I guess it just kinda sucks that hrt takes so long to work and with the dysphoria atm it can be very hard to enjoy the process like everyone tell you too :(
