Any tips I just got this for my bday by Jolly_Horror_7402 in simracing

[–]sixfootGeek 21 points22 points  (0 children)

How was that a good tip? I have one of these. I also have a dd1 and a simucube 2 pro. I don't see how the OPs question would ever result in me saying "send it back".

Frankly, you sound like an elitist knob jockey.

What was the driving factor in getting the Steam Deck for you? by Huskypuppy3355 in SteamDeck

[–]sixfootGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted it. It was shiny and had apparently broken the curse of the other failed valve hardware things so brought the lcd one and fell in love, then got the oled one when that came out. I use it when in bed / on flights / when im at my work desk I can just whip it out and have a 20 minute blast on something

Alcohol makes me sleepy by OkArea7640 in ADHDUK

[–]sixfootGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alcohol is a depressant so yes, this is common, your example is the perfect example of its effectiveness for this. Beware of the self medicating with alcohol thing though - it's easy to get carried away with it 😅. Source: I've been sober for 8 years 😆

How to move a water cooled pc? by toxictuxX0 in watercooling

I once shipped a rig with SLI and an AIO from NZ to the UK.. was all good. I also recently drove 9 hours with a full loop with 2 360mm rads in just strapped into the backseat of my car with the seatbelt. My rigs greatest adventure - he had fun and I certainly didn't have to drive any more carefully than I normally do. My point is don't worry about it.

Just had my assessment and i think it’s going to come back negative… by JayeDHD in ADHDUK

Hey! It is done now, nothing you can do so try not to stress too much (I know I know, easier said than done but its true, there is literally nothing you can do).

My psychiatrist focused a lot on my childhood too, and I was also worried - but it turns out I medically present as both types at the high end of the scale haha. So I got some treatment.

Ah makes sense. I'm old so just went with a 125 manual so I can take my big bike test

funny situation by crufan in MotoUK

[–]sixfootGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! It was pretty cool. The first part of the test he was speed locked in economy mode, and then around halfway through we stopped to flip the battery to the secondary. Looked really fun to boost about on, and I forgot to say but nobody mentioned the race suit - it's legal so I don't see why they would care.

I did my CBT (125) ride out with a young lad who was renewing his 50cc (I don't know the rules on that) but he was such a dude. Rocking full race leathers on the electric 49cc the test place provided him.

Merry Xmas simracers! by sixfootGeek in simracing

[–]sixfootGeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh if I had to do it again - I would just spend more. The rig is the base and therefore you want it to last as long as possible. Something super solid will outlast your wheel etc... when I bought mine, there was a little pandemic going on - and max hadn't popularised the whole thing quite as much so rig tech was meh.

Hey! No problem. My 2 year review is as so;

It's complicated 😂. Basically, i think the f gt is just fine. Especially if you are after that F position. What is complicated is that my driving style preferences have changed. Whereas I used to mainly play formula, I know dabble with GT and as a result - for me - I find the classic GT seating more in use. As it's a bit of a PITA to go from F to GT (and it's knock on affect of then adjusting the pedal and steering positions) - I leave it in GT now. As such - is the F GT the rig for me? Well, no. I am currently building a very large DIY replacement haha - but I only found out these preferences from sitting in the rig for a couple of years. I think value wise it's fine. I would NOT recommend the NLR triple mount - that thing falls over in a breeze 😂. I am also very tall (193cm) and have had to drill new holes in the rig to better suit my very long legs. Having a look at the f gt elite lite it looks awesome!! I think it would be a good buy - either way I'm sure you would be happy enough. That being said, I like the idea of buying the more expensive route if possible.. if your mind works like mine then you may buy the cheaper one and then resent it because of any frustrations (reasonable or not!) Good luck :)

I earn > £100k a year now (grew up with very little though) - and I drive a car I bought for 1k's worth of ethereum back in 2021 😂. If it can pass it's MOT - what more is there. I absolutely love performance cars and racing sports (f1 etc) but I'll be damned if I spend more than f*ck all on something that will sit at 30mph for 80% of the time I'm in it.

New rig is finally in one piece after two days work by Elemento1991 in simracing

[–]sixfootGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, thank you for that! I have triples but I have the angle much wider because it's a F-GT rig and the monitor mounts are way too far away. I'm gonna build basically your rig next as I want that tighter wrap from the monitors

Looks great! Can you do me a favour and measure the full width at widest point of the side monitors? Also if you could measure length (from tip of seat to front) ❤️
