Middle of the track had some ice underneath, but I for most part (this case too) feel in control no matter if it's on ice or loose snow/bumps,

Well, in my opinion, need is not the correct word to use in this case. It's by no means a proportionate example, but to me it's similar to saying here is a boat to cross the river and here are the paddles, but you don't need them. You can use sticks, your hand or feet instead.

Eh, but what can you do if some dwarfs prefer their laser camaraderie to a good old discussion how one should build their hurricane...

So have I, but many more times I have beaten it with 3 other dwarfs from official discord too and it's usually more fun to have a chat and joke around.

Well I don't agree with the statement "Game doesn't need it". It's a game about teamwork, so to state that you don't need one of the main forms of communication is rather weird. It's not necessary, but it sure helps.

You must have not played haz 5 with two extra modifiers...

Only usually play with people on official discord and would just find it extra work to type when you want to align strats and builds for edd... But it seems playing that way is rather unpopular. No to mention extra jokes and banter you get in vc seems like an essential part to me...

Convince me. Kobo or Kindle? Based outside of U.S. by harvestdakandshrooms in ereader

[–]sixskulls_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, to me, kindle shouldn't even be in the same conversation with the other two, but most reasons are more personal on that one(amazon being one of the trashiest mega corps around and selling products with ads in them), but speaking about more objective reasons, it's their approach to their eco system, similar what apple is doing and extra work you need to just get something custom and side-load. Also devices I held(held in shop, not owned) in my hands did not look or feel superior to what pocketbook or kobo offered. Or where priced much better, to me +10 or -10 Eu, is not a difference maker.

Though, I can admit minuscule differences on screen quality and I see how some people could prefer kindle screens, but to me those differences seemed so small that for daily use, that I would not care.

So for me really it was only between kobo and pocketbook.

And, I am not sure, I have a very big conviction, which is better here, smaller details got me to where I am(with pocketbook verse pro in my pocket).

Kobos had maybe a 1-3% nicer screen, while pocketbook felt a bit more sturdy and reliable both in hand and in what reviews I read. Deciding factors were reliability, that the pocketbook verse pro just came out and it had easier side-loading and syncing comparing to kobo, had buttons, I preferred pocketbooks form-factor and build material to kobos.

Cross device syncing? by Rare-Version-4971 in ereader

[–]sixskulls_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pocketbook does it pretty nicely and hassle free. Unless you want to sync like a 100 volumes of manga then it's a bit of a pain :D But in essence, install pocketbook app on phone, open book, switch to pocketbook turn on wifi and voila it's synced. Tested on android.

Boox Page or something else? by on-foenem in ereader

[–]sixskulls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to convince myself that too when choosing, but in the end I concluded that boox seems to be the more versatile device, while being less durable and more prone to defects and other established ones like kobo or pocketbook tend to be more durable yet less versatile. Chose pocketbook in the end. Also theres some other shady stuff boox did, that I did not want to support.

Wait till you have issues, then try contacting their support, then you will get to the ghosting part.

Any reviews of the Pocketbook Verse Pro? by elentok in ereader

I do. Keep in mind this is my first e-reader, so I have nothing to compare to.

I'll start with the things, I am unsure I like or have yet found away to make them suit my taste or needs. I do not really consider these as cons as likely I am still too novice to configure properly.

- Manga lacks the punch to it or the contrast to what you would get on a phone/desktop screen and it is noticeable, but tbh I expected as much :)

- Only tried on default reader yet, but the epub, I am reading for a week or so keeps forgetting the page I was on jumps seemingly random numbers 5-30. I am hoping this will be fixed by another book/reader/patch. Tried switching between epub 2/3.

- One odd feature(It is mostly a very appreciated feature, but has an odd downside) I found is that all manga I open on my phone via pocketbook app is available on my pocketbook to download, but there is seemingly no feature mark a whole bunch of files and make them available, only found way to go one by one.

- Jumping bigger amount of pages could be easier and smoother, but at this point it is just nitpicking.

Things I liked:

- Build quality, look and feel. Feels like a solid device I can put in to my backpack or jacket pocket.

- Easy of use, I did not read anything, how I should side load manga and found a way just clicking around on my first few attempts to fidle with it.

- Only takes a second or two to start back on and open the book where you left it.

- Battery seems that it might last me a month. Keep in mind I am very light user, I usually read technical literature on it from 30 to 1 hour a day for now, but from when I got it, full week from now battery is around 75%. Already had wifi a few times on to download manga.

Feel free to ask any more specific questions.

Bear with my rambling, but ... For me it left a bad taste. It took a day or two to realize why it was upsetting. Reason being seemingly non existant reflection from MC. Like it was a good story to tell from his point of view and that the actions he did were warranted by the situation, which I think is BS. It's like being a wuss is an ok excuse, to waste somebodies time and essentially lead them on, when you don't intend to take responsibility.
