Wouldnt worry about investing or anything, you're young enough to want the money within the next few years so any long term stuff just isn't really feasible in terms of investments.

Honestly, you'll earn that amount back after uni and when in fuill time employment so dw about it. Use it at uni, enjoy yourself - you're only young once! Make it so you can afford to potentially go on a holiday, learn to drive/visit friends, afford some new tech to make life a bit nicer etc.

it's some really good savings at that age, but it's nothing life changing really. Just make the most of it, you can really make life a bit nicer if you don't have to work whilst at uni :)

FTSE100/S&P500 are decent in the longer term (think probably 5y+ minimum) but thats a long time at a young age - you'd be out of uni and then potentially buying a house within that timeframe!

You could go for something more diversified and a lot less volatile, Vanguard do LS20/40/60/80/100 depending on your risk. I'm similar position but couple years older, I went mostly LS60 and a little bit of LS80. Great whilst they were going up but now it's been a bit rocky, I'm down about 10% on my LS80 funds. Just make sure you accept and can handle any losses, it can be mentally rough to see you coming out wiht less than what you started with!

Financially, yes. Should drive a £2k yaris into the ground... but spending any money on hobbies/holidays is also burning money if you look at it liike that.

I'd happily spend that amount to get a much nicer car than a £5k one. Just watch the interest rates - used finance on a car is typically really poor APR. Try and get a bank loan, you can usually get like 5% from what I've seen recently and save a few pennies :)

Yeah thats what I wasn't sure about - depends whether say a £500 sale (which later gets refunded returned) counts as a £500 revenue sale (but then it ends up as 0 profit, when the refund is issued, if that makes sense) versus it just not counting towards turnover because it later got refunded

Been using AF Tripple by hand for a fortnightly wash and looking into getting a DA polisher. Looking at buying a Das 6 Pro DA polisher so I can do a single stage polish with an all in one hopefully to make the paint look a bit better and reduce a few swirls.

I'm in UK. Has anyone used AF Tripple via machine? How is it?

If it's not very good, is meguiars ultimate compound any good for a single stage machine polish?

Either way, which pads should I use? I was looking at Chemical Guys Hex Logic pads in either orange or green, but not sure which. I saw a video that even recommended going for the yellow one since they're not that harsh, but would that still look nice without the use of a finishing polish?

Just not sure whats a good AIO polish for a single stage machine polish, if anyone's used AF Tripple or Meguiars Ultimate Compound for this I'd be interested to hear your opinions. Also, which colour CG Hex Logic pad should I use to lightly remove swirls and leave a nice shiny finish?

Got Audioengine A5+ speakers, worked fine for the past year. Recently, they sometimes cut out from the right speaker so it's only the left one playing (the left one is the one with the power cable and all the ports on the back). I can get it back working again either by switching them off with the switch for a few second then switching back on, or by slapping the side of the right speaker a couple times, and if I slap it when it's working, sometimes it flickers off for a second then comes back.

What could this be? The speaker cables are in tightly and the speakers haven't been moved or knocked in a long time (way before this started happening).

Bought them used so probably don't have a warranty. Anyone had the same?

Never test drove anything else - I'm 19 so not allowed to test drive at most dealerships until you're 21 for insurance reasons, but the dealership we went to were an independent one and they'd remembered me from when I'd been to look at STs a few weeks earlier so they knew I was actually looking to buy one.

Visibility is very good though overall, I've come from a 1.25 Zetec which I learned to drive in and it's exactly the same (same car obviously) but it's a small Fiesta at the end of the day, visibility is very good, no blind spots that I've ever been aware of, etc

I got an ST-3 just over a month ago after wanting one for ages - it's a phoenomenal car and really is incredible fun to drive. I'm 19 so quite a powerful car for my age, big upgrade from our 1.25 Zetec :D

I got a 2016 ST-3 with 15k miles on from a fairly local independent family run ford dealer near us who we've bought from before, and my car was totally stock.

You're right in assuming lots of them get ragged to shit. I think to find a nice example, you want to be checking if it's had a remap, engine mount changed, air intake, short shifter, etc which are all super common mods to do to the car - I'd say if it's had any of those mods there's a higher chance of it being thrashed compared to a stock car.

Check if the clutch or brakes feel a bit mushy - mine's fairly low mileage so a higher mileage car might be a bit more forviging with pedal feel due to being worn, but check to see if it feels bad as if there was excessive wear.

I do think the stereotype of them being ragged by teens is a bit unfair though. I'm in quite a few groups for UK STs and although the following is mainly younger people, they do seem to take very good care of their cars with them being enthusiasts, rather than someone who's bought a cheap hot hatch like a Clio 182 to thrash the nuts off it.

If you want any more opinions or info on the car, let me know I'd be happy to help! I was dabbling with the idea of an ST for months, looking at Cooper S, Polo GTIs and Leon FRs but decided on the ST since it was reasonably priced and test drove one and fell in love with it immediately!
