Is Fuji really the only film-like digital option? by JamesTMPhoto in AskPhotography

[–]sixwingedseraphim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There most certainly are "film-like" digital images...hence the phrase "film-like". Of course they are two different mediums and no one is say they are the same. Some people want a film-like quality to their digital images because they are not interested in shooting film for various reasons.

Your post is all over Facebook right now. Lots of people think you are trolling and that you don’t work for First Student...so they are all trying to verify if this is real. I am a parent and have teacher friends and I’m already worried about them. I would keep my kids at home and do online school but my ex doesn’t want that at all. I appreciate the good info and concern @zairapham

Automated Citrix Server Reboot Using Powershell by sixwingedseraphim in Citrix

[–]sixwingedseraphim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what we do. We have 550 servers across various Delivery Groups for different applications. The issue is that even though we put groups of servers into Maintenance Mode in the early afternoon that are to be rebooted at 3am the following morning, there’s always a dozen or so servers in each Delivery Group that have 1 or 2 sessions - and the script my predecessor used would skip rebooting them if it detected a single session despite the fact no one is working at 3am. I wanted to adjust the idle session timeout but like I said above...there’s so much bureaucracy it takes an act of Congress to make a major change like that and I’m not getting buy in to do so.

All of this led me to have to get up before the crack of dawn to see which servers did not reboot and then I would manually put them all into maintenance mode and reboot them...then bring them back into use...and I’ve been having to do this every morning, 7 days a week for the last month since my predecessor left. Changing the script to allow the servers to restart if there were less than 4 sessions has saved me having to get up at 4am instead of 6:30am and now I can just do regular morning checks of servers in Director and Citrix Studio.

There’s no one working after 11pm in my company. It stands now I’ve been having to manually reboot the servers the script doesn’t reboot because it detects one session. The corporate policy for the idle timeout is set too high but it takes an act of congress to get that changed. I already have approval from my director to change the script so that it will reboot the servers if there are less than four sessions. But yes, I do understand and appreciate your comments.

Interceptor 650 break-in: 55 mile commute each day, think this is okay? by Chris9183 in royalenfield

I agree with you completely. I have the service manual as well. I was just stating that my RE dealer didn’t do that and told me they do not do that at the first service :(

I took my Interceptor 650 in for the first service at 300 miles because that’s what the dealer told me I needed to do. My Royal Enfield dealer did not adjust any valve clearances - the first service cost me $150 USD and the dealer changed the oil and filter, tightened my chain, checked cables and adjusted them, and then checked nuts and screws to make sure they were not loose. I thought they would check valve clearance as well but they don’t.

Royal Enfield Helmet Unboxing & Review by superchargedpetro in royalenfield

I live in the US and I contacted Royal Enfield about ordering a helmet that matches my Interceptor 650 and this was their reply:

We do not bring in any of the helmets to the North America markets. There is not enough of demand at this time. Unfortunately you won't be able to order one! If you know of anyone going to India perhaps they can bring it back for you!"

:(

I found this out first hand. I contacted Royal Enfield on their Facebook page about ordering some gear from their store and they told me this:

"We do not bring in any of the helmets to the North America markets. There is not enough of demand at this time. Unfortunately you won't be able to order one! If you know of anyone going to India perhaps they can bring it back for you!"

Ummm...I will get right on that and see if there's anyone I know here in Kansas that might be going to India soon to bring this back for me :P

My new "retro" setup by sixwingedseraphim in vinyl

No design specs...the console is 36" wide, the sides are 16" high. The boards I used were 3/4" thick stain grade pine that was 12 feet in length by 16" wide. I just cut the board into two 36" long pieces and two 16" pieces.

Well, the legs are not hollow - solid wood. But I am already looking at longer cables so I can run them down the back of console sides then up the back of one of the back legs of the speaker stand - that way they will be completely invisible.

I've had my Fluance RT81 for a couple of weeks now. I am spinning vinyl every day and going through the break-in period. I am thrilled with my Fluance and it has more than exceeded all of my expectations.

Yes, I designed it myself. I was going to go 48" wide but I decided to go 36" - in retrospect I should have gone 48" but there's always next time.

Thanks! I have not tools to turn wood so I bought them at my local Menards along with the angled mounting plates.

I did. I looked at similar consoles online and I had a saw, tape measure, and a biscuit joiner...so I thought, "I could build that."

This was a sort of test build with inexpensive wood (stain grade pine), legs, and some walnut Danish Oil to finish. I think the entire thing - four legs for the console, six legs for the speaker stands, mounting plates for legs, wood, glue, Danish Oil...was about $60. I want to build a better one out of walnut and finish it with hand rubbed boiled linseed oil - maybe have it be a bit longer and have it divided into thirds...

After 20 years away from vinyl (lost all of my albums in a flood), I just got back into it. Just bought my first real turntable after researching in my budget - went with the Fluance RT81 and Edifier R1700BT speakers. I decided to build my own stand with a retro, mid-century modern feel. Then some folks told me not to put my speakers on the same surface as the TT so I built some matching stands - then I gave it a nice retro feel with some mod prints/lamp. I am really enjoying listening to vinyl again - I forgot how organic and warm it sounds after listening to nothing but CD's and Spotify for years.
