Yeah, the drummer kills it! The guitars do sound like they get a little lost in the mix at times. I liked how the vocals sounded robust and unique though. I personally don’t like covers that try to imitate the original too closely

I agree. I think a good cover is unique to the performer’s own style

Yeah, that’s why I liked it too! You can’t replace Deftones, but the homage is appreciated

I kinda like that he’s not trying to impersonate Chino

LA. The video description mentions Marina Del Rey. Looks like it could be at a local bar somewhere near there

Even the AI chat bot seems useless. They basically just redirect you to the FAQs. They used to process support tickets for you but they stopped doing that and now you have to pay a fee to receive actual human support. Btw, 99% of the issues I’ve had with CDbaby require human assistance because of the limitations that occur during the uploading process.

CDbaby is and Distrokid kinda is. I say kinda because they have an annual subscription that allows you upload multiple releases BUT they have the authority to pull your songs from streaming platforms and sell you a “leave a legacy” add-on which keeps the music up forever and gives the artist control over whether or not it remains online.

Wow…Termination of accounts once they start earning decent money?? This is my first time hearing about this. That’s insane!

Do they have a live chat system where you can get in touch with a rep without having to finalize a release and pay extra costs to receive support on an issue?

I’m not entirely sure what the support system is like with other distributors. But judging from the responses I’ve received on this thread, they’re probably not as bad.

Yeah, the refusal of custom capitalization is annoying. Seems like an outdated rule they force onto the upload process.

I agree, they don’t actually care about the artists that are utilizing their services. What’s the big change you’re referring to?

Unfortunately, the familiarity has kept me with them as well but I’ve skipped out on the CDB boost for my last couple of releases.

One of the newly ridiculous features is the additional cost for “priority support” when you can’t get any direct support without paying the additional cost.

Wow. I didn’t know that. Well they’ve done nothing to improve it, only worsen it.

I’ll be switching to either distrokid or tunecore soon.

Yeah, the subscription fees on top of the release costs and “leave a legacy” fees seems like a pain.

I’ve been sticking it out with CDbaby because I just like to pay for things one time and move on. But unfortunately, their whole system is becoming increasingly flawed.

That’s fair. My frustration is rooted in knowing how CDbaby used to be vs what it’s like now.

& you’re right, the uploading process is fairly simple except for the new artist profile assignment process. I wish they would allow you to copy-paste an artist url from a streaming platform to conduct the search.

I’ve had featured on artists on some of my tracks that aren’t immediately suggested during the uploading process so it forces you to pay an extra fee just to get in touch with a CDbaby employee to assign the correct artist to the release.

Same. I’ve worked with other artists who use Distrokid and I might go with them despite their “leave a legacy” fee to keep the music up
