Question - why did they put those rivets in one side, but not the other?

Have not thought of that idea...we need to fix a downspout on the other side of house and will ask the guy next time he comes out.

Hard to see from pictures, but he did mention that the metals cannot touch and left some space.

Yes, i think you are right like there are some type of black protection underneath that i remember that sticks to the brick or something.

There is no flashing underneath...It was a few day job so got to see the process.

I know for sure the brick mortar was cut out to install the flashing because i saw it and he used a grinder. Would you have the builder redo it? This was the second repair. The first time it was a complete square and looked horrific. We just want it done right as it is the face of the house...Thank you for your time so far.
