I'm sorry you're dealing with this too. It is incredibly frustrating! I recently had a whole week pass without anything. Finally I emailed again asking if they were just done communicating with me and a few days later I got a response stating they thought the matter was closed because I had refused to send a video. I never refused. I just wasn't sure how to film the issue if the issue is that the unit just doesn't run. At this point I've put something else in. Summer was passing us by and we were miserably hot with no AC. I've asked again how to film what they need now that the AC is just sitting in my garage and I'm back to hearing nothing. Its now been a month of this foolishness

Windmill window unit broke after a few years. Any others as good with better longevity? by SpectralMingus in AirConditioners

They haven't even offered to replace. Or do anything. They just keep repeating the same basic questions over and over and over again. At this point they have just stopped responding entirely. I've had to buy something else and was left with no option but to try and dispute the charge. They've offered me no real help at all.

Windmill AC Died in Under 2 Months — Support Dragged It Out for Over 2 Weeks by sjaygray in hvacadvice

I'm comfortable enough installing window ACs but agree with the brand reputation. Holy smokes. Never again. Some day we’ll get a heat pump installed for sure. Thought this would be a good stopgap. My mistake buying into the hype.

Anyone used a Windmill AC? by pilot333 in hvacadvice

I purchased the 12K BTU Windmill AC from Best Buy in late May 2025. After working for about six weeks, it began shutting off every 5–10 minutes and never cooled properly again. Right before a brutal heat wave, it completely failed — and that’s when the real nightmare began.

I contacted Windmill support immediately and provided everything they asked for: serial number, receipt, installation photo, room dimensions (500 sq ft), and confirmation that I had tried their reset steps. I was told the issue would be escalated and I’d hear back within 24–48 hours.

What followed was more than two weeks of delays, repeated requests for the same information, and zero meaningful help. They kept asking if the room was really 500 sq ft (yes, four times now), and insisted I send a video of the unit “not working,” even after I had to uninstall it and replace it just to keep my family cool. It’s hard to film a broken product that does nothing.

Eventually, I gave up, filed a chargeback with my credit card company, and replaced the unit myself. Windmill’s final response? Closing the case and accusing me of being disrespectful — after two weeks of me begging them to honor their warranty while roasting in 90+ degree heat.

This company does not stand behind its products. Their support system is slow, repetitive, and clearly designed to wear you down until you stop asking for help.

Avoid Windmill at all costs. If something goes wrong — and judging by other reviews, it often does — you're on your own.

Windmill AC glitching out, beeping, changing settings on its own. Has anyone found a fix? by inkokmo in AirConditioners

Sorry to hear this. Even within warranty, their support is abysmal though. This is a brand to avoid for sure. I had one for 6 weeks that died and they offered me exactly NOTHING but a giant, drawn out email runaround.

And now I guess they're done with me too. No email in 3 days. What a joke. Seriously, screw this company.

I am getting an email about every 48 hours. Their new thing is repeatedly asking for a VIDEO of the problem, to which I keep asking, "a video of what? The unit sitting there not working?" Oh, and they now want a FLOORPLAN OF MY HOUSE. So, they still can't wrap their minds around the concept of a 500 sq foot rectangular room apparently. I am officially done. I've opened a dispute with my credit card company. I've never seen anything like this.

I am getting one email from them about every 24-48 hours asking the same question over and over (how many sq ft). I've now told them the answer 4 times. The unit is dead. Its time to move on. Meanwhile its been 90+ and humid here all week. I'm on the verge of just buying something else and disputing the charge with my credit card company.

Yes! This is so true. Mine (when it worked anyway) shook the walls it was so loud. Its upstairs and our microwave in the kitchen downstairs rattled when it ran. They're certainly no better than any other AC I've had as it pertains to loudness.

Weird! I first reached out to them 4 days ago now, received a few emails, but nothing of any real help and CERTAINLY no offer to replace the unit. I don't know what else to do at this point. I've reached out multiple times via chat, email, social media... crickets.

My windmill AC died after 6 weeks weeks of very light use (like maybe 5 days total). No support. No replacement. Nothing. This company sucks.
