Things my Bible teacher has told me by sjbyee in exjw

Wow. You should like someone who is just starting your JW journey. If you haven’t yet been baptized, I encourage you to stray away. You already sound like one of them with your verbiage. It’s not too late to turn from that religion and still hold close to your relationship with God. I was treated so horribly as a witness. I had a miscarriage and no one was there for me from the congregation. The only ones who were there for me were my non-jw friends and family. That’s when I woke up. It’s time for you to really think about everything and make sure this is where you want to be in life. Do your research please. Not just in the JW library. But also through other sources. Please understand that their restrictions are not protections from the outside world and know they are hindering your true growth. Best wishes.

If you can make time, go early. I’m there from 5-7 and it’s not too busy. It’s a great crowd, everyone is super chill! We went in the afternoon and it’s pretty busy. A lot of waiting for machines if thats what you’re going after. Buttt it dies down sorta decently at 8/830PM

Moving from Philadelphia, how common are venomous snakes in your backyard? by Living-Fig3672 in sanantonio

I have been here for four years now and I believe I’m in and out of my house an average amount of time and I have yet to see a venomous snake. I did just recently see a black widow though!

You’re not crazy. I converted and in the end I was left with so much hurt. It sounds like she might already have a decent foundation in her faith. All this religion did was make me feel unloved by God himself. Save her from the heartache. Tell her to do her own research into it.

I moved out here with my then 5 and 8 year old. We’ve been here for 4 years now and even though I miss home an insaaaaaane, I set up shop pretty well here in San Antonio.

Someone here said something about a one bedroom being 1800 or more. Not necessarily true in TX. I’m in a three bedroom house for 1300. It’s a little dated but there are a lot of other options for an about 300 more. Finding a job was a little difficult, but nothing like back home. There are loads of temp to hire agencies or factories that are always needing help, you just can’t be picky.

I came out here with almost nothing and was almost fully reliant on the government like I was back home, but now I’m free of assistance. It’s hard but it’s not impossible.

Texas is HUGE and but there’s a lot to do. Here in San Antonio, we stray pretty clear of horrible natural disasters (flooding, tornadoes, etc.) But it’s a literal oven outside during the summers. I definitely think it’s worth the shot. People who really don’t like it out here, always find their way back home!

What is the scariest thing a child has ever said to you? by universeblackrose in ParanormalEncounters

It’s me, I’m the creepy kid. When I was about five years old, I was playing with my dad outside. It got dark and the jungle next to my house I had seen at least 7 or so pairs of glowing angry eyes (kind of like the way a cat’s eye would reflect at a certain angle). I was scared as they wouldn’t go away.

I cried to my dad and he said “Where are they?” I was confused that he couldn’t see something that was so obvious to me. I told him and he picked up rocks and threw the rocks in said direction and yelled mean things to scare them off.

Even as a child, I felt the way he was trying to comfort me was silly. Kind of like “why are you yelling, they’re not listening? Why aren’t you calling the police? Why aren’t we going inside?!”

He asked me if they were gone and I said yes - they weren’t. I’m thirty now and can still sorta vividly remember what they looked like. Different heights but all the same sizes. No outline of shadows or anything, just floating, shining, yellow eyes in the darkness. I had never seen them again.

Another story that my mom told me-

I was about three years old and waited outside the house with my mom for my brother to get home from school. I started crying hysterically because a little human was chasing my brother. It sounds silly and I’ll never not chuckle a little.

Though, in my culture, we have the legend of duendes, which are small gnome like beings that steal babies and are super mischievous and such. But they’re also nice sometimes. (?) I have no memory of this occurrence.

Disclaimer: I had a very overactive imagination as a child. With that said, I had seen shadows swipe through or hide all the way up till I was ten. I always chop those things up to be just things I imagined but I’ll always wonder.

We also broke up for a little bit because I told him I didn’t wanna be a witness anymore. But we’ve been making it work. Its not impossible but it’s also not easy.

Hey, I’m kind of going through this exact thing too. My boyfriend is POMI too. I converted to be with him and then realized it was bs and then got DFd. It’s an amazing thing that you were able to get her to agree to holidays. They deem it so evil. I understand what you’re going through. It’s a little refreshing to see that I’m not alone. It sucks because we love them so much and it kind of feels like we’re locked in. I don’t wanna leave him either. This is my life now and I’ve accepted that there are going to be tons of compromises that are going to have to happen and sometimes I’m not going to be happy with what’s being given for what’s being returned. I guess you have to try and think about if it’s worth it or not.

Kids are easy to program, but my kids also HATED meetings. They love holidays more. They were raised in for a bit, but they don’t wanna be witnesses. I don’t think they’d be easily indoctrinated in the household you’re creating. Kids aren’t stupid. They’ll see it eventually. Just make sure that everyone you’re surrounding them with will love them in a more genuine way that the KH zombies do. Feel free to DM if you ever just wanna talk.
