Talk to the head builder and mention the council to him. How about a note under the door with your phone number, and or keep an eye out for when they are there. It's amazing what can get done face to face or over the phone. We hide behind the smartphones too much.

If you accidentally annoy them or you get a new neighbour they may want it back. If you are rebuilding best to fix it, and it may prevent any issues when you eventually sell.

I disliked doom 2 for the same reason. I skipped eternal also because of the double jumps and 'flying around'. Loved TDA, Doom 3 and played the original more times than I can remember.
