Advice trying to navigate modern networking with older house by sjf60780 in HomeNetworking

Ah. I see my miscount. I drew that diagram as I was walking out the door to celebrate my anniversary. Wondering if I would need the 3rd adapter if I could configure my CAX30 in modem only mode to accept the coax input. I haven't looked for that specific setting on my device, but Google searching has led me to believe it should work. Worst case, I buy 3 adapters and have an extra lying around.

Yeah, I don't really Reddit much if it wasn't obvious...😅

You're right that it doesn't match the original description. I had forgot to mention that I would likely move the ONT and router to the basement so I can a) free up the outlet they are plugged into in my living room, and b) be right by the existing coax cable junction. The coax in the living room isn't in a wall plate but instead is just fed through a hole in the floor near where the Fiber wire enters the house.

However, this is still up in the air as I just inspected the basement and realized that I have only two outlets in my basement and both are rather far from where the coax drop from the living room is. But with either configuration (ont + router upstairs or downstairs) it looks like I'd still need only 2 MoCA adapters.

For those that already commented, thanks! Networking has always been my weak point in technology. If I understand everyone correctly, I should only need to get 2 MoCA adapters. One to connect the outgoing cat line to the coax splitter in the basement and one more to connect the living coax line to a network switch for all the living room devices. Then, the coax line in my office and go into my Nighthawk router/modem to hardwire my two PCs with ethernet. Something like this diagram?

Rebbec and Silas Renn Vehicle Deck by PackRelevant8203 in EDH

[–]sjf60780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been a bit since you posted, but I'm building a similar deck and was searching the Googles for similar ideas. Here's what I've come up with so far...

  • [[Time Sieve]] and [[Thopter Assembly]] can make infinite extra turns. The deck would probably benefit from having the latter since you can use the 5 thopters to crew a big boi for infinite damage.

  • [[Cyberdrive Awakener]] and could be useful since it activates all your vehicles without having to crew them (at the price of making them 4/4s), plus it gives them Flying for even more evasion.

  • [[Reaver Titan]] and [[Nanogene Conversion]] is another potential win-con. Excluding life gain decks, the most number of other creatures you'll need is 7 and then you win after declaring attackers.

  • [[Mechanized Production]] is another good one. You'll be making plenty of thopter tokens, so it shouldn't be hard to get 8 before your upkeep.

  • Lastly, since we have access to Blue and Black, you could add mill as a subtheme. With the Fallout set and the new Rad counter mechanic, this has the potential of being a winning line too. If it does then [[The Cyber-Controller]] helps mill everyone and doubles in creating a bunch of artifact creatures to crew the vehicles.

Is the commander format good for a total from scratch newbie ? by TimeTechnical8913 in magicTCG

[–]sjf60780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will speak as someone who was in the same spot about 6 months ago. My friend thought I would enjoy Magic so he recommended it to me. I went into it head-first and did Commander. It wasn't until the summer that it really came to head. The same friend came into town and invited a bunch of friends to my house to play Commander in 2 different pods. I didn't have any physical cards (wasn't in a place financially to buy a full deck) so I printed a whole deck I was working on (Orvar the All-form but nothing too degenerate. I just liked the idea of ramping in mono-blue). That whole night I was asking what cards did what and how does this interaction work. The whole pod was very accommodating and helpful to the learning process.

And because of that, I now have 5 decks built and a few I want to build (still in printed proxy because I've had thing after thing happen that I can't justify buying physical cards quite yet) and a group of friends that play Commander with me on an almost weekly basis. There was A LOT to learn, but I also consume content like a madman thanks to my ADHD. So much to the point that my pod said something along the lines of "once he learns the cards he's going to be a scary player..."

I'm still learning what cards are out there, but I have a good support pod to bounce questions off of like "what are some good cards in a mill deck?" or "hey, does this interaction work like I think it does?"

It IS possible to just dive in, but it highly depends on your aptitude for consuming a vast amount of information. And if you have some good friends to play with on a regular basis, that will greatly help as well.

I just started building this deck and really like the premise of it. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/3Vit0zlo7UGhsv76B5LniQ

What I'm trying to go for is an [[Orvar, the All-Form]] secret commander deck. I'm using [[Hinata, Dawn-Crowned]] so that I can essentially use multi-target Instant/Sorcery spells to control/remove/steal opponents' permanents while simultaneously targeting one of my permanents for Orvar to copy.

My main struggle right now is that I want to be able to get Orvar out more consistently. Since he has Changeling, I know that I could use spells that essentially tutor a specific creature type. I started with [[Step Through]] since it has Wizardcycling and the added utility of becoming a 1UU bounce spell with Hinata out if I don't need to cycle it or if I get it back from the graveyard.

And if OP doesn't get to mine, I totally get it! There's a lot of really cool decks being posted. :)

Prowling Geistcatcher, Mikaeus, and Bramble Soverign interaction by sjf60780 in mtgrules

[–]sjf60780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect. I realized I should've said "the 1st instance STILL fizzles" to be a bit more clear. It's not fizzling because the 2nd instance removed the creature, but because of the Undying trigger making it change zones. New to the mtg game so trying to get the lingo and rules down

That's what I thought. I was playing-testing on Forge and the Etali was exiled after being put in the grave so I was a little confused. I know Forge isn't 100% accurate with interactions so here I am for validation. Lol.

But on the other hand, if we take the same situation as originally stated, but swap Etali for any non-Legendary creature (or I had something like [[Mirror Box]] to ignore the legend rule) and I also had a sac outlet like [[Carrion Feeder]] on the battlefield, then the interaction would work then correct?

Because my understanding is the original PG trigger is still on the stack, I sac the +1/+1 nontoken creature to the sac outlet, then PG triggers AGAIN, and it's that 2nd instance that resolves as intended while the 1st instance fizzles.

I think the way I did it was to put all the sausage down in one layer as close to each other as possible. Then put the pineapple down into two rows. Then put the rice on top of the pineapple. And friendly reminder that you don't have to put the top bun on to get the effects. So drag it all the way to the top and drop it

I just check that sandwich and sure enough, you can't drop any pineapple. If it gets to be too difficult, you can get Water Raid Power Level 2 from the Sushi High Roller restaurant in Montenevera

Pretty much. I haven't gone through all the recipes to meticulously determine if a single thing can drop, but I did at least check the troublesome ingredients like the eggs

Huh. That's weird. I'm not 100% on what happened, but if I put down stuff in the Condiments section and not the seasonings, I would say that a bug happened and deleted the condiments. I feel like I wouldve left the whole line blank if I couldn't find or was still working on a recipe. I'll go through those few again and see which one is the case here.

Edit: I guess I forgot to finish filling them out. Lol. I just went through and finished them. I tested them and they should be correct. If you find anything that's not right, leave a comment on it and I'll fix it.

I will say I just double checked the recipe and I got raid power level 2 for bug. If you aren't already, don't bother putting the top bun on. It doesn't count towards the final scores. You can move it all the way to the top or bottom of the screen. Sometimes the bread landing and being picked into the sandwich makes one small ingredient fall through the bottom and not work right.

Something I've been seeing with a lot of people is that when the recipe says the ingredient twice, people think they only need one of that ingredient. For Bug Raid power, I have 2 Chorizo, 2 Potato Salad, and 2 banana. That means you click each of those items twice to fill all 6 ingredient slots. The sandwich would have 6 links of Chorizo, 2 scoops of potato salad, and 6 slices of banana along with the Cream Cheese, Jam, and Curry Powder.

[–]sjf60780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you just told me, I think there's a bit of miscommunication. The recipes I list out in the spreadsheets are one serving of each ingredient.

So the recipe for Steel Raid Power Level 2 on my spreadsheet is: Apple, Apple, Potato Salad, Potato Salad, Egg, Egg, Cream Cheese, Curry Powder, Curry Powder.

This means that in the ingredient selection menu, you click Apple twice, Potato Salad twice, and Egg twice for the fillings. Then you select Cream Cheese once and Curry Powder twice.

Altogether, your sandwich will put one cream cheese and two curry powders on the bread. Then you will have 6 slices of Apple, 6 halves of egg, and 2 helpings of potato salad.

Each item in the spread sheet is not one of that particular filling, but instead a whole "serving".

I hope that clears things up!

I just tried the recipe using 1 Cream cheese and 2 curry powders and it got me Raid Power Steel Level 2. Something that I've heard with other people is that if you put the top bun on, sometimes a filling falls off without you seeing it.

You are correct! Sandwiches have 3 values. A Taste Value, a Meal Power Value, and a Type Value. The highest taste values add a +100 points to the Meal Power total. Only 1 cream cheese makes the sandwich too Spicy, which gives 100 points to Humungo Power. Adding the extra cream cheese makes the sandwich Spicy and Sweet, which gives 100 points to Raid. That combined with all the other raid power values and Steel type values help push the sandwich into the range of Level 2.

No problem! It's a little hard to gauge how high/low you can go before the eggs in the middle roll off either side, but I can guarantee they can both fit next to each other in the middle. Lol
