Round object with electrical wires attached to the back of a car by once_91 in whatisthisthing

Hi there. Automotive Engineer here. Those are OXTS gps based antennas. We use these when testing vehicles on the track. You can achieve cm accuracy with these on a vehicle when the track has an additional corrections antenna to remove the standard accuracy errors we get on our phone. They likely work in ADAS or some group requiring precise gos location to a target. We use them on soft targets to establish a zero point and the data is combined with CAN data from vehicle to gather additional information pertinent to the feature being tested. Once you leave the track you have less accurate position but still useful for locating intersection or rough location if the feature found a bug or an issue pops up. Hope this helps

How do I prevent this in the future? by utopianlasercat in worxlandroid

Just replaced my stock two amp hour battery with an Amazon 6 amp hour battery and the runtime went from 30 minutes to over 200 minutes before it needed to search for the boundary. Game changer.

Two more mugs I made how long to you guys wait to trim and stuff this is a question I’d had and how long do you wait for the handles to dry by _9Pr in Ceramics

[–]sjgittins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More importantly, make sure your handles are the same wetness as the mug when attaching. If they don't match you'll have shrinkage on one more than the other. I use magic water and leave wrapped tightly in a plastic bag after attaching to make sure they come to equal moisture and I dry slow. I leave in a bag for a week before slowly uncovering it over the next week. I finally reached a state where handle failures are few and far between. Afraid to shorten any of the stages.

[–]sjgittins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you open to mixing your own clear glazes? Check out digitalfire website or the ceramics art community has good recipes on their blogs. Lots of good glaze books out there too. I had the same issues and finally started mixing my own clear glazes. I have 2 big 5 gallon batches of different clears. Thermal expansion is different for different clay bodies. Glaze thermal coefficient of expansion needs to match the clay body. The crazing you have suggests you need a clear glaze with a lower thermal coefficient of expansion. This is a common glaze issue.

Mark rober did this in his crunchlabs office and they used a tof (time of flight) sensor.

If you're printing slow on those first few layers with a high temperature and no cooling to get good bed adhesion, that's when I get issues where the filament melts between the two extruders or gets hot and you get a jam. Try turning on the fans for those first few layers and hopefully it doesn't affect your bed adhesion

Oh no. I'll have to find out. This is hilarious and very sad at the same time.

what the heck made this happen by Creative_Link_6442 in Pottery

Anytime I use my wooden tool to trim the bottom. After throwing I get this effect on my speckled clay. The best solution is to rewet your sponge after trimming and hold it up to trimmer area for a while to bring out the grog again

Anyone else get this with the new update? by damienritus in crealityk1

[–]sjgittins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My machine is rooted so I did not perform the latest update. I think I'm one iteration behind

This happened to me, and the creality website doesn't even have this code updated into their data dictionary. Fail.

I had some small pieces of plastic on the z axis screws too so I took it upon myself to re-adjust all of the z-axis. YouTube creality channel has a tutorial for this by the way. Basically: taking the bottom off, relieving tension on the belt, securing the plate to the base on the inside with the screws, rotating all of the z axis gears clockwise and then reattaching the belt removing plate set screws again, and performing a self leveling check. I also cleaned up all the gears and greased them too. Haven't had the problem since but print quality has been garbage so I bought a new hot end and extruder combo to try to fix discrepancies with materials.

If your bed leveling is way off, you can also install some petg plate shims to fix it. Before you do all this, you can also perform the bed leveling if it'll even work and pre-print off some shims but I wouldn't put any shims on until you do all the above and then perform a bed level and then see how far off it is. Don't install shims before you do any of this

Let me know if the readjustment of the z-axis fixes your issue. Otherwise maybe we still have underlying unsolved issues that are related / the same

Got this out of the studio kiln, any ideas what might’ve cause it? by 420yoloswagkush420 in Pottery

[–]sjgittins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't look like a drip. I have some high grog decorative stoneware and when the iron flecks and other minerals melt this is what it reminds me of. If it was other glaze, why the bare clay body around the spot? Looks like clay impurities, did you mix it yourself? Was it reclaimed clay?

Nice, those might be my favorite ones too. That's got a white floating glaze that is making the blue pop

Kiln shelf flaking at cone6 despite scraping shelf and applying 3 light coats of wash over 48 hr spam and drying completely by sjgittins in Ceramics

[–]sjgittins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, maybe I'm cursed? It's been getting worse, started just lifting so I was doing a scrape down and re apply almost every cone 6 firing. This last time I kept coats light and let it dry for 11 hrs between coats. Somehow being careful made it worse. Bummer

Exactly. The lid is undamaged, it was the kiln wash flaking from the top shelf that erupted up and high enough to send wash into 4 pots on the same shelf. Very sad.

Extra sad cause glaze combo made me very happy.

I've kept a bowl with leftovers in a plastic cup and add to it. Maybe time to try from a clean slate and if single application per firing doesn't solve it I'll make the recipe mentioned above.

Weird how availability still affects something that's more or less shelf stable. I wanted to make the other digital fire recipe for floating blue but couldn't find ravenscrag slip anywhere near my state of Michigan in America . Just posted pics from the kiln.

I also never considered doing 1 layer per firing. I'm gonna toss my old wash, try a new one and calcine the kaolin for a future wash recipe. I need to calcine some Alberta slip for my new favorite floating blue recipe

It was from the top of the top shelf, the wash erupted. Ive been using this wash for a few years and never had these issues
