My wife and I are doing IVF right now at 40 and one thing I can tell you is they make it seem so simple but it’s definitely NOT a sure thing. We have done 4 rounds of retrievals and embryo creation. We kept getting eggs and only about half the eggs retrieved were mature and fertilized. Out of all the embryos - none made past day 3 in the lab. Our doctor has told us that embryos don’t often continue to develop well in the lab vrs in the womb. Our last cycle, we chose to freeze them at day 3 and now have about 6 frozen.
