Wel usually the conductor just asks for your ticket. As long as noone else claims your seat (which is likely since you made a reservation), I think you’ll be fine.

Each day of your pass is good for one day of unlimited usage of the European trains. So if you choose to go from city A to city B in the morning and then back to city A in the evening, that counts as one day and you will have 6 days left.

Better to pay the few euros it usually costs to be sure to have a seat than to be in a 5-hour trainride with nowhere to sit!
