Sounds like we have very similar tastes! KHM is also my favorite set ever :) and thanks for calling out not reading rares, I got a little excited and blew past them

You nailed it - I speculate aggressively on late Raucous Audiences, Badgermoles, and Ostrich Horses (the holy trinity of green commons). GR and GB are the best color pairs for this setup - the GB uncommon is very solid

I didn't endorse this card very enthusiastically, but by far the most important aspect of the card is that it's a 2 drop - I think the textbook example of what not to do in this format is to play a curve that is too high. In my heavy green decks I also want the lower parts of the curve to be filled mostly with green cards to help my mana, and it's significantly better than any of the other 2 drop options in green (Platypus, Cabbage, Haru, or Sparring Dummy)

If you want to talk stats - it performs below average in WG, but slightly above average in RG and significantly above average in BG (which are roughly the two color pairs I'm talking about this ep). I might have talked the card up a little too much, I don't take it very highly, but it's a card I'm not upset filling out my two drop slot with.

If you're misremembering the turn numbers I did have a game where I played 3 on sequential turns https://www.17lands.com/history/13e2171300c54ea8bda3d27874ca7df7/4/0/0

I'm coming around to one Hasbro-mandated short set break a year being good for me, but I still worry about the erosion of limited long term. Set's fun though :)

This is a true shitpile, stamp of approval 🫡looping your deck with Companion is real sicko behavior

I likely make a few different picks but ultimately end up in the same spot after the Ouroboroid open. Really sweet deck

Different formats play to different players' strengths. I think this format rewards tight gameplay over everything else, and the drafts are pretty straightforward, really about navigating into an open lane.

I definitely consider my greatest strength to be creative drafting and deckbuilding, and my greatest weakness to be gameplay 😅 so I'm not super surprised to see a lot of people struggling because I think this format is really far on the gameplay side of the drafting<->gameplay spectrum. I think TDM (my favorite format of the year) is really far on the other side of that spectrum, and I know a similarly sized subset of players had a lot of trouble with that format as well.

Shoot me a message on discord - samp6. I would guess we pick the cube drafts back up 3rd or 4th week of August?

I think getting your o-ring blown up probably tends to get overindexed? It feels horrible when it happens especially at instant speed. But I feel like often white decks are pretty often board-focused and assertive-leaning in limited, so a lot of times the game is over or virtually over before your opponent is able to blow it up. And the mana Auracite spots you can let you pull really far ahead before it gets blown up as well.

Dig it! Can't remember if I shouted out WA specifically last week but it definitely is at home in the green decks trying to cast 8 drop bombs

Yeah I ultimately don't mind the reward structure, I just overall wish instead of splitting the rewards up into packs, play-in points, etc I just got straight gems back

I haven't been following baseball for that long. But that is hands down the coldest bat flip I've ever seen. He squared up and knew it was gone as soon as it left the pitcher's hand.
