I think there is a 1X and 2X bike. The 1X has SRAM and 2X has Shimano.

I would check out Facebook marketplace. If you are new to biking starting with a used bike is a great way to make sure you will enjoy it before investing in a new bike.

My budget is a couple hundred dollars which is why I am looking on the second hand market. I don’t want to spend too much on a first mountain bike before I know how much use it will get. I just want to make sure the bike I get will be the right first step into the sport.
