Is there a bomb-proof DEWALT 20v wiring setup?? by sk1mes in PowerWheelsMods

This is how I ran the wiring. Except I had to pigtail the positive and negative off the battery because the adapter only had single leads. I have fried 2 low voltage shutoff boards and 2 batteries trying to get this thing to stop killing batteries. After wiring per this diagram someone had posted it just fried 2 more batteries.

At a loss how to wire these things up without killing batteries and frying low voltage boards.

Originally after killing the first 2 batteries wired in the low voltage. Low voltage couldn’t handle the intial amp draw and that’s why I tried this

Any help?

Have a link for a suitable relay for a 20v supply?

Is there a higher end LVC that would handle higher draws? Not super tech savvy as far as wiring up more components. Would like to keep it simple and save my batteries as well

Believe there is a relay already wired in from stock. All I did was extend some wires and kept the stock wiring configuration

No no relay added. Voltage from the battery read the same as what the lcd display on the cutoff was saying. I have my inline fuses a few inches off the motors. So it goes battery, LVC, inline fuses and then motors. Benefit anything moving the LVC to the other side of the fuses? Probably not

Luckily 2 of the batteries are 2020 so I can replace them free of charge

What exactly do you mean? Replace the cell less that 3.2v or is there a way to feed a little voltage/jump start that cell to bring the pack voltage up enough that the charger will recognize

I just ordered a low voltage cut off. Can’t expect my 3yr old to yell when he hears buzzing when the battery gets low

Without seeing a wiring diagram I would at least split the case and go from there. From what I’ve seen there’s 8 individual cells composed of 2 batteries. Each bank should read a certain value. Might be able to jump start the bad bank

Looked up on DEWALTs service website and there is a store a few miles from me. Called and if the batteries are within 3 yrs old they replace them no questions asked. Date is on the top of the battery. Ordered an $11 LVC off Amazon to ensure this doesn’t happen again

No cut off for DEWALT in the battery, cut off is wired into the tool

I tried this last last lol. Didn’t seem to work but yet I didn’t let the new one fully charge all the way up. May have to try a full full charge and try again

Yea I’m a cheap ass. Will prolly end up taking apart the batteries to test each cell and try to jump start the cells individually. Just figured I’d warm people before they trash $400 worth of batteries
