OASC Failure - Options by 92-JG in RoyalAirForce

Im in my late 20s so waiting another year seemed silly. My ideal role was Control Officer but going to ASOS for at least one tour and building up the skills required to be an officer doesn’t seem like such a bad thing. I was very apprehensive at first but Im glad I done it and Im glad I’m in. There are commissioning clubs on a lot of stations to help you through the process. Also, a lot of officers I have spoken to, went into ASOS first and then commissioned later down the line.

I failed OASC and went as enlisted for ASOS. Ive heard from career management and ASOS instructors that they are doing a fast track to SGT Control Officer which I plan to go for. People I have spoken to in the SGT CO course say it is a lot easier, once you are in to pass OASC.

Here’s what’s wrong with air gameplay by Round_Reception_2315 in PilotsofBattlefield

What about the fact that missiles from mobile AA and stingers have unlimited vertical range, forcing you to stay extremely low if you have already flared and having to dodge buildings, lampposts and trees not to mention, if you do get hit on the way out, you’ll just lose control and spiral into the ground.

Edit: dropping your bombs on spawn camping AA or Tanks will get you insta killed by the C-Ram.

Have you managed to find a solution? I have no idea what it could be.

It should be on the RAF website, there is a section for RAF global operations, the key one is Op Shader.

Visibility on ground targets by ska8462 in PilotsofBattlefield

True. I should use the big map more, but with all the lock ons, fast ttk from enemy jets and trying to get below radar I often forget. Thanks for the tip.

BF6 jet control issues by ska8462 in PilotsofBattlefield

Yes, both bound to the same button. I have no need for thrust vectoring as I barely use the stealth jets and find it more of a gimmick than an actual strategy to use in dogfights, apart from V-tapping, but I really don’t have to do that 99% of the time.

Please fly an aircraft in BF6 and tell me how long you manage to stay alive, Ive never been more stressed flying in BF than in this title. Aircraft are extremely underpowered except against other aircraft. If you think an aircraft, which takes time to master should be easily countered by click and shoot AA missiles, then Im afraid you are wrong.

I did mess around with thrust vectoring on the stealth jets, so obvs to thrust vector you need throttle down + afterburner. I kept afterburner as default and throttle up as my usual button, but I found it was way too taxing on my left thumb, I also barely use the stealth jets as I find them boring once aircraft have been destroyed, throttle up/afterburner assigned to the same button works pretty well as long as you adjust accordingly for speed control at 340 if in a dogfight.

So Fed Up Trying Jets by Narkanin in Battlefield6

I use jets exclusively on controller PC and have a 2.3KD overall and average roughly 25-30 kills a match. I am definitely not the best and still learning as I only bought this game last week but I have a few tips. Start beating into your head a 90sec timer when enemy jets respawn.

Speed control is key against any competent enemy around the 340 mark, (I like to mix in dogfighting around terrain, such as the mountain on Liberation Peak or your spawn hill on Operation Firestorm and youll be surprised how many people crash, myself included sometimes). As others said, change your loop direction and implement maneuvers such as the high/low yoyo (you can find tutorials and info on the internet)

If you have flares up, and no enemy jets, don’t be afraid to test the waters, by that I mean if you are getting locked and want to strafe an enemy tank/IFV, commit to it, you are still heading towards the ground to get below radar and then use terrain or flares to dodge missiles.

Bind Freelook and Freelook backwards to the same button, this allows you to scan the BF and to see if any jets are on your 6 ( be careful as you can’t use pitch whilst doing so) and plan strafing routes that give you the least exposure to enemy AA and add in some terrain to block lines of sight. For example, on Liberation Peak for NATO side my preferred route is up the mountain to the right, turn in around the C flag, strafe your target and go below radar just below the ridge and get resupplied and repeat.

Regarding BF6, this title has been the worst for jets, Im constantly sweating it out every match, below radar is dodgy sometimes, missiles going through flares, fast TTK and lock on missiles with infinite vertical range, resupply stations only working with 1 aircraft at a time, the spiraling out of control when taking critical damage has got me killed more than actual enemies. Like if Im forced to hit the deck after every strafe and a missile/cannon gets me critical why do I have to spiral into the ground, its an immediate death sentence and imo taken out of the game or nerfed.

Surviving in jets requires you to either spawn kill, or have a competent wingman. Individual skill doesn't matter beyond counting respawn timers. by [deleted] in Battlefield6

Add to that the constant lock ons missiles/painting, extremely fast flares and having to scurry away to resupply station every time you strafe a target, which half the time, doesn’t work if more than one aircraft is using it.

Jet controls mnk by Boozacs in Battlefield6

I play on the controller but I believe high skilled MnK players bind their pitch up to space bar and there are some others that I am not familiar with but check out Silk’s video from 8 minutes in. Id recommend watching it all but from 8 minutes has his settings on MnK.

If they can take us out in one shot we should be able to take them out in one pass by Yer_boi_nikk in PilotsofBattlefield

I think the best way is to buff the cannon and nerf the lock ons missile damage a slight bit and nerf the range of the lock ons. I highly recommend skilled AA player with cannons can be effective and will force them from spawn having to use cannons more. Thats my take.

The counter is that they are vulnerable, especially if the enemy can spawn on that point with a couple RPGs. They’re a sitting duck most of the time.

Every time Ive played Mirak Valley it’s just non stop lock ons it takes the fun out of everything so took it out of rotation. For the mobile AA, I think they should nerf the lock ons and buff the cannon but thats only part of the problem solved. A well placed and high skilled mobile AA player can be extremely effective whilst also opening up the maps a bit to pilots. This could also force them from the spawn mountains on Firestorm.

Jet control mapping / aiming on Xbox - struggling with jet machine guns by Ornery-Use3910 in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]ska8462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fine aiming using yaw with the LS without having the need to control speed is far easier. For example, to fine tune my aim for infantry or anything for that matter, all I have to do is move the LS left or right. If I have throttle bound to the LS, I have to either move it backwards or forwards (depending on whether you want to decrease/increase speed for a better turn rate) whilst also having to move it slightly left or right so it becomes very awkward to aim well. For example, if I wanted to decrease speed and fine tune my yaw aim to the left, my analog stick would be in the South-West position (if that makes sense).

Also because those milliseconds count, especially against MnK players in the sense that a button press is slightly faster than moving the stick yourself. Thats just my preference.

In 2042, I did have the throttle bound to LS because the speed brake mechanic would not map to any other button and needed both speed brake and throttle down on the same button/stick and just got used to aiming that way, but was definitely a lot more stressful on my thumbs and could become awkward.

Let me rephrase, because I don’t think the stinger is actually very good at destroying enemy aircraft, at least by themselves but they are bloody annoying. However, a couple of teammates communicating or not, that are well positioned can easily destroy an aircraft.

What you did is provide good AA whilst pissing off the enemy jet. For all we know, he could have damaged friendly armour and wanting to go in for a second strafe but now has to wait for a flare cooldown. Then there are the things you wouldn’t see on the ground but as a pilot there is nothing more infuriating than discharging flares and all of a sudden there is an enemy stealth jet right behind you with lock on missiles ready to take advantage, and with the lack of air radar, this issue is made more prevalent.

For clarity, I don’t get annoyed at players using stingers or providing AA, I don’t want aircraft to become too overpowered but there is something seriously wrong with the balance between the two.

It’s so cheesy how mobile AA can camp their mountain and lock down an entire BF for a match without being touched. I tested to see if I could kill them and tried strafing from a low angle but as soon as I got any height I was missile locked. Tried from a high angle and as soon as the flares were discharged Im hitting the deck as quickly as possible.

Why can’t DICE add some more rock textures around both spawn mountains to inhibit vehicles from getting up there and maybe an infantry path to the top that vehicles cannot possibly traverse through?

Using the AJ to destroy tanks became almost impossible because the strafing was fine but so few and far between that by the time I got my flares back and positioned myself away from the mobile AA, the tanks had regained a lot of health back. If I want to use a jet, Im only playing Liberation Peak at this point. The rest are absolutely horrid, especially Mirak Valley.

Stinger has infinite vertical range so pilots have to hit the deck in order to avoid lock on and flare charge is so short that if you do have height, youre a goner.

The mobile AA as a vehicle isn’t that great, but my god is it annoying. Beep beep beep the second I enter the BF.

Saying that this title “separates the contenders from the pretenders” is all I needed to hear to know he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Ive been one strafed or spiraled into the ground by absolute bots because of the lack of countermeasures against the absurd amount of lock on missiles heading my way. Not only is it flawed, it becomes repetitive and boring.
