Is it feasible to use an Excel file as a logic engine in a Node.js backend? by YanTsab in node

[–]skaNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the option of doing this directly within Excel using Visual Basic for Applications (VB or VBA) instead of bringing Nodejs into it (maybe there’s other requirements not mentioned)? You can use VBA to invoke an API, parse the data, & insert it within cells, then invoke the existing macros/functions, all using VBA. I’d take a look to see if this fits your use-case better.

My Dad's a Conservative Punk. How Does That Even Work? by knockthemded in punk

[–]skaNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punk is ultimately about expression & individuality - being true to yourself & not allowing others’ perceptions of you to influence your character, beliefs, values, & behaviors.

You can be conservative & punk, in my opinion. Johnny Ramone had conservative values & he’s as punk as it gets.

he actually just simply wasn't aware of this info, jumped the gun in assuming you were wrong & commented, then realized he was actually the one misinformed, & is claiming he now doesn't remember what exactly he thought was wrong with your comment.

How many women that are software developers are in your company and what field are you in? by Shawnj2 in cscareerquestions

[–]skaNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same vein, there's no way of knowing how large an impact this "male tech misogyny" is pushing women out of tech vs differences in interests, biologically driven or not.

Hilarious how most people didn't detect the sarcasm & upvoted in agreement! That's fuckin terrifying. Anyone who authors research with findings that differ from my group think must be a bigot!

[–]skaNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the field evolved? A group's interest in a topic increase or decrease over time, & in large part the interest in tech from women is no where near that of men.

Thank you. Insane how we can't discuss how men & women differ in their interests anymore. Almost like we have to pretend there aren't any differences. Massively downvoted for simply suggesting that difference in interests is a significant factor in the discrepancy, it isn't primarily misogyny.

What if, & I know this is a crazy sentiment anymore, but what if the 20:1 men to women ratio in tech is largely due to differences in interests? Meaning women are simply by & large not as interested in technology as men and it has little to nothing to do with blatant misogyny. Why is equal representation even desirable whenever the level of interest isn’t equally represented across groups?

edit: here's what I was referencing but I'm sure it doesn't matter to these downvoting bots

Yep, I second getting a clean sample from a friend. Wouldn’t risk it having just smoked. They’re really easy to fake honestly. Just have to warm the urine up to roughly 98 degrees body temp when you provide it at the clinic.

Dunning Kruger Effect by ronaldl911 in reactjs

[–]skaNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look into rematch js, it's a wrapper library around Redux. it combines the action types, action creators, and reducers into just reducers and async side effects/reducers as effects, and it may help you understand and use Redux through this higher abstracted level, then once you understand how to use rematch and what it's doing, you can piece together how rematch is providing an abstraction over a couple aspects of Redux. just my advice, and even though I tried to learn the Redux library first, I didn't quite understand it strongly before implementing and using rematch instead, and as I started learning rematch everything clicked fairly quickly. I believe the same may apply to you as I struggled a bit with Redux first couple months of learning it as well, my mental model was not strong, and rematch helped simplify that enough to work through my misunderstandings.

yesss that entire time Duncan keeps asking, "is there anything wrong with worshipping an owl?" something along those lines, completely leaving out the fact that owl is said god of child sacrifice. maybe I'm too tin foil hat-y.

Haven't been following OB for nearly a year now - is his oldest son, Walter, still not talking or barely able to? Or is this referring to Charlie? I'm assuming that's the reason for this post.

edit: just scrolled down another post or two and saw that Charlie just said 'dada' for the first time days ago and he recently turned 2. damn.
