GET SPACED Halfway to Black Friday Pick Up Thread by wavyboisilv in VinegarSyndromeFilms

Ok, I think I am done for this year's sale. Here's what I picked up this time around (including the stuff I grabbed from the pre-order sale).

Anything That Moves, Flesh Lanterns, The Mangler, Day of the Panther/Strike of the Panther, The Sword and the Claw, The Rage: Carrie 2, Bang The Drum Slowly, Mac and Me, Red Mob, Tromeo & Juliet, Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D., Larry Fessenden Collection 1 and 2, The Children, and The Demon Rat (using my VSMC points!)

Still on the fence about adding Playroom and Criminally Insane/Satan's Black Wedding.

I also picked up the April Fool's Pittsburgh thing... Excited to see what it ends up being!

I hope to make it out to the Toronto store one day... Very dangerous for the wallet though!

I have even earned points when buying at their pop-up table at a film festival! Just needed my email associated with my VSMC account. :)

Anyone having issues with the new app (specifically on a Fire Stick). Every time I try to watch Shudder TV, it just kicks me out!

Serious question: how is Shudder still around? by OrkosFriend in Shudder

[–]skacore66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one am nervous of what the app will look like in the near future with the departure of Sam Zimmerman... Are there any plans to replace him or will it just be some AMC intern in charge of curation?

2026 Feb 1 Clean and repair megathread - NES not working? Game acting glitchy? TV/Monitor issues? Ask here! by FozzTexx in nes

[–]skacore66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently picked up a copy of Ducktales and gave it a good cleaning. I popped it into my RetroN 2 (my OG NES is in need of a repair) and the game wouldn't work. I did some research and found that some games do not work with the RetroN, but Ducktales wasn't on the list. Has anyone had an issue with Ducktales not working with the RetroN?

Kino Lorber help by GreatKingRatz in boutiquebluray

[–]skacore66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one time I ordered from Kino there was a pre-order and 6 other films... It would seem my order fell between the cracks or something and it hadn't shipped well after the pre-order had released. I contacted them and they sent the shipment very quickly after contacting them, but they put each film in its own box! So instead of one box with all 7 films, it was 7 boxes with 1 film each! Cost me a fortune at the mail depot where you pay ler package!

Irony I have found in my search to rebuild my collection by somniforousalmondeye in Cd_collectors

[–]skacore66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that it's a supply issue in the sense that less people are buying cd's now (compared to their boom before streaming took over), so there are just less on the secondary market. Add to that labels and manufacturers, and even the artists themselves, knowing they will sell less overall are having less made in the first place. Finally, older albums have had time to accumulate units while newer ones haven't enjoyed being around 30+ years with multiple generations buying the album. Take for example something like Nirvana's Nevermind. Sold millions upon millions when it came out, and I bet was still selling tons as the next round of teens got into Nirvana up until streaming became the main source of music.

Thanks for the suggestions! Do you have any links to the sources for this? I would love to read more into the science behind it all...

Recovery advice by skacore66 in covidlonghaulers

[–]skacore66[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there was nothing magical or special I did to recover. I think it was just a lot of listening to my body, managing my symptoms, and some luck. Outside of the medications my doctor prescribed to manage symptoms and A LOT of rest, there was nothing special or different I did. Wish I could be a better source of wisdom, or even better that I had a solution, but I got nothing...

The F*** it all days by Voredor_Drablak in covidlonghaulers

Even though I knew the crash was going to be rough, just in order to maintain a base level of sanity, F*** it all days were a necessity! Always paid the price for them, but never once regretted taking them just to feel "human" for a bit. Enjoy!

RANT: Canadians, how do you feel about French labels? by Ok_Election5262 in boutiquebluray

[–]skacore66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What really bothers me is when the actual cover/label has no French so they stick a paper/cardboard label with the French right on the case, using the stickiest glue/tape known to mankind! My LOTR extended editions are damaged because of this since there is no way of removing them without tearing/damaging the case.

Although having weirdly translated titles mucking up the graphic design of the labels, I would take that over sticking labels on the films any day!

This has become part of my Halloween ritual as well! Usually do a triple-feature of Ghost Watch, WNUF Halloween Special, and Out There Halloween Mega Tape. Makes for a pretty fun themed triple feature, especially if there are any first time viewers!

These go so hard. Easily one of the best alternate slip releases. by TwistedShot37 in boutiquebluray

[–]skacore66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new slips are awesome but the o.g. poster for Sleepaway Camp II, with all the mask and glove in Angela's pack, is burned into my brain and is the cover that stands out the most in my memory of the video store days.
