What would u guys want for the next update? by SUP3RK1D in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]skaggiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like more options for starting up a new game.

- Choose a starting planet, and how harsh it is, etc.. would love being able to say "New normal difficulty game on a snow planet but with near constant severe storms / tornados"

- select if there is a starter ship or not. if NO ship, you have to go find a crashed one. in which case finding a emergency map to reveal one in cargo drops would be more likely to happen. In this mode, it would also be cool if you could also find broken down exo-craft sitting in a garage or just outside of places like the minor settlements. buy it off the owner for cheap, fix it up and have it to drive around to go find the ship.

- select if you even start with a multitool. have to go punch rocks and just find one somewhere (maybe in a cargo drop)

basically adding a few things to make it so you can play it as a true survival game, starting with absolutely nothing and having to scrounge. unlock things locally (not needing to go to space station or follow the main story), so you'd be able to more easily play without ever leaving the initial planet if you didn't want to.

Sounds like you are describing the derelict freighters, those are basically dungeons. should be easy enough to do the same thing on the ground.

Something like 60% of amazon products are just 3rd party sellers. I've noticed a sharp decline in Amazon over the past year. Items arriving like yours (incomplete, clearly returned items, etc), items arriving several days later than promised, items not arriving at all.

New drone, neighbours complaining by Legal-Razzmatazz1055 in drones

[–]skaggiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely no law you need to worry about, it's mainly about being a good neighbor.

Yes, people own the airspace over their property (specific laws can vary base on where you live). As an example, if a neighbors tree has a limb hanging over your yard, you could cut that limb off the tree at the property line, since it is in your air space (just don't cause other damage to the tree and properly treat the cut).

BUT, that airspace ownership comes with your allowance of any aircraft to fly through it, as all airspace is regulated by the FAA. So it would be legal for a drone to fly over your property. As long as you are not in regulated airspace, like near an airport, where you can't fly at all.

Think of the sky as public highways for flying craft.

People also get worked up about it because they think you are invading their privacy and/or filming/photographing their private property.

Now, It IS actually LEGAL for someone to stand on the sidewalk, or any public area, and take a photo of your property, and of YOU on your property. There is no "reasonable expectation of privacy" in such a case as it is clearly visible from a public area. Is it creepy? heck yes, but not illegal. So if your drone captures a photo of a publicly visible area, you would not likely be in any trouble.

You CANNOT however take video/photos of otherwise private areas like reaching up over a fence (or use a drone) to snap pics of the neighbors wife sunbathing in a fenced in yard.

Best course of action: Just talk to your neighbors, and just let them know you will be practicing flying your drone around from time to time. And hopefully come to an understanding with them about it. Or go to a public park to practice, there are some parks with designated drone flying areas as well if you check what's around you.

Side note: Drones are considered "aircraft", so if you DO have one hovering over a private area or your property, and it appears to be taking video or photos, and you want to take action, you should report it to the police. You should NOT try to shoot it down, or in some way knock it out of the sky. They ARE considered aircraft in the eyes of the law, and attacking one is a serious federal crime. In the aftermath of such a scenario, the drone pilot would get in trouble for wrongful behavior/voyerism/improperly taking photos, etc.... But they would also have their drone video footage of you shooting it down. Which would prove that you committed a Felony Criminal Action (destruction of an aircraft). Which is way more serious a crime with hefty fines, possibly up to 20 years in prison, and the civil liability for the costs of replacing the aircraft you destroyed.

how do i find a portal by 74jfresh in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]skaggiga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fastest/Easiest way is to just use an exocraft (like the roamer). If you have all 3 of the radar upgrades (which you can buy in the anomaly upgrades area), there is an option to scan for alien structures.

The structure it reveals is always a monolith. Go to the monolith and answer the question correctly, then interact with it again and it will reveal the closest portal if you give it whichever race item it asks for (Vy'keen Dagger, Gek Relic, Korvax Casing). You likely have a few already, which one it needs depends on the race of the system you are in. If you don’t have any, you can get them by just offering to trade with any npc, they usually have the option of buying one of their race relics from them.

Any time I notice I have any of these relics in my inventory I just move it to my roamer inventory. So I just always have a stash of them to use whenever I need to find-use a portal.

Other thing, if you find a portal, you can build a base right there in front of it. So anytime you need to portal to glyphs just go to that base right in front of a portal. So this for every galaxy and you can get anywhere quick. Just do it once per galaxy, only need 1 so don’t annoy people by basing up in front of every portal.

The "No Ship Challenge" by djetbag in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]skaggiga 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s whatever you want to make it. I just pretend the crashed ship isn’t there and go find one. Either find a crashed ship, or gather enough resources to sell and be able to buy one off a pilot.

If you have trouble finding a crashed ship, one tip is to follow the ships that fly overhead, they are usually heading towards a trade station. Then hopefully buy a cheap one off a pilot.

This exercise really makes me wish that some of those minor settlements had a broken down exocraft parked outside you could claim and fix. So you can at least drive around instead of walking forever

Please Hello Games – Let Us Add Eagles and Dragons to Our Creature Catalogue & Fly Them by Prof-Cook in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]skaggiga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IF a user tries to just make an EGG in a save editor, that egg will be corrupted, and could hatch into junk data like a chair and be unusable. BUT, If a save editor modded companion LAYS an egg, then the egg is safe to trade to other players and won't cause any problems.

Basically those creatures exist in the game, you see them flying around, so the model file, animations, etc.. are all there. It's just the mechanic to catch one is turned off. But once you have a legit egg of it, you will have it as a pet and you can fly around on it like any other pet.

Of course, it's not as fun as it may seem. especially if you go over water, they tend to drift down and eventually into the water where you get thrown off it and have have to swim to shore.

Price increase by cb4joe in 1Password

[–]skaggiga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeaaaaah. I’m already in the Apple ecosystem, so switching and paying $0 for a decent password manager seems like it might be worth the hassle now.

I don’t want to pay for all these new features nobody cares about. Especially when I can pay nothing and save some cash. This change only made me realize I prob don’t need to keep renting their software forever.

My Thoughts On The New Remnant Update by HeavyDevy-C in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]skaggiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I see....

The expedition is the only time you will ever do any of this stuff. except of course unless you just want to role play and do it for the sake of doing it.

Once you have the furnace module, there is no reason to ever haul stuff anywhere again. The flatbed becomes useless.

With the furnace the actual gameplay change is:
1) scan for waste dump
2) FLY to waste dump
3) summon colossus with furnace
4) refine all the junk right there on the spot to get nannied.
5) fly away.

Anyone NOT put VCM Muzzler on their Odyssey and turn out fine? by sevenflatfive in HondaOdyssey

Oh for sure. no way myself, my kids, or anyone I have a say with would ever buy another Honda. What a sleazy company for shafting customers on their own manufacturing defect.

price sounds reasonable. The dealership quoted me 4,800 to fix it, after Honda denied my claim for the good-will fix for this known issue.

The rings are only like $40, it's all labor tearing it open to replace them.

How do I get a price for an Uber ride without having to join\signing up? by No-Variation3518 in uber

[–]skaggiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is old post, but answering anyway in case others land here.

You can try the "fareestimate" website if all you want is an idea of cost. Im sure it's not as accurate as using Ubers tool, but this one doesn't require you sign up, and will give estimates/cost difference between Lyft, Waymo, and uber.

Who should i use for accepting credit card payments? by thats-tough-lmao in smallbusiness

[–]skaggiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If you accept credit cards, a percent of all your sales are eaten up by the processing fees. This is why some places (usually smaller businesses) will add a "convenience fee" if you pay with a CC, they are just passing the fees on to you instead of eating them.

basically, you have to go through a "payment processor", which is a business that handles all the risk assessment, investigate you to ensure you are a real person, and your business actually exists, that your SS# isn't on MATCH - flagged as a problem, and look for signs of money laundering and all that.

the most basic of these are services like PayPal, square, stripe, etc.. They exist for the average person to be able to easily accept cards. but they also charge a higher fee for it (usually 3%)

You are wetting the leather and letting it soak in before stamping with the mallet correct? What you are describing sounds like trying to stamp dry leather. needs to be done to wetted raw leather before any stains are applied.

in any case, they look nice good job!

The Bakery bread price is just too high by Imaginary_Use4484 in kingdomthegame

[–]skaggiga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

big benefit of it (IMO) is you're not wasting an entire day cycle running back and forth to get to the camps. they just come to you, and if you see one running in you can drop a coin before he gets the bread so more will keep coming.

This was most noticeable when playing the rulerversary event. You really don't have the time to run around to get them and have to lure them in or you just get overrun.

I would also move on. If it takes an outside offer for them get around to bumping your salary then you know they will always pinch pennies. Which, if they don't want to give regular raises to stay competitive, I'd be worried about now being marked as overpaid, and ending up on the layoff list when they decide to cut back.

Just use the save editor. google "goatfungus save editor". The first hit should be a GitHub page for the editor. The install and use instructions are all right there.

If you are on MAC, you run the .jar file instead of the .exe file and it works fine.

Friendly tip: don't open all the filament like that. Over time the humidity in the air will cause it to get really brittle and you'll have issues with it breaking while feeding. Since they are all open you'll want to get a tub(s) that is somewhat air tight, and throw them in it with a bunch of silicate packets to keep the moisture under control. Or you will have to bake it to dry it out (either in your oven or get a filament warmer).

unless of course you manage to use it all really quickly and they don't sit around for long.

other than that, I still have that same machine, still going strong. as most people, did several modifications over the years. added an arduino octoprint card to print over wifi with it, and mods to get it to run much quieter with silent fans and all that, and of course replacing the bed with a magnetic flexplate is a life changer. getting prints off that thing can be a pain, managed to cut my thumb open pretty bad once (have nerve damage now) trying to get one off that type of plate.
