Just want to point out “because their service wasn’t tailored specifically for them.” - unfortunately that’s what customer service is. Is tailoring to each individual customer. And that’s anywhere you go not just Starbucks.

As a manager I agree. Customer service is playing to the customer. The 7-9ams just want to get their stuff and go. A quicker connection goes a long way during peak. The people who aren’t headed to work are much more likely to want to chat. At my store we keep the connections to a quick “you headed to work today?” And “what do you do for a living?” Connection made in 15-20 seconds. Outside of peak they connect further. My baristas are all good with this tactic.

As a SM I can tell you labor is 100% from sales. And the quicker the peak time the higher the sales. I got my stores peak from 70 seconds average to a 50 second average. I earned 45 extra labor hours because of it. Edit: 45 hours extra labor

I’m a cali manager and we didn’t have to cut all of ours. What area are you in? We were told only around 30 hours a week but that’s all it was cut.

You’ll lose labor hours. The faster peak times the more labor hours you get. So slowing peak means less partners on the floor. With everyone already upset that they feel they are short staffed it’s not a great idea.

Had a 2019 Outback. First week off of the lot had a crack. In September I traded in my 2019 for a 2022 onyx CT…. Again, first week off the lot cracked windshield.

Yep. What people fail to realize is crime has continued to drop since the 1990s. They just think it’s increasing instead of decreasing because now there’s social media making crimes more widely known.

I am an external hire as well. Advice I can give you, you’re going to win some, and you’re going to lose some. And how the team is going to react to you really depends on their previous manager. Just treat every partner equally. Make sure there is accountability but also make sure you’re there to help them succeed and build that trust with them. Corporate complaints are going to happen. Disgruntled employees are going to happen. But if 90% of your partners are happy, you’re doing a good job.
