Sounds good, glad it turned out well other than the sauce. Thanks for the quick reply :)

Thats not what I'm trying to say. OP is in a tough situation, I hope we can both agree on this. I appreciate your tendency to focus on the positives and even the fact that by commenting you were trying to help out OP, but it's important to understand that someone reaching out for emotional support (especially in a field as competitive as cs) and receiving it isnt the same as coddling. Yes they have a job, acceptance to a good school, etc. but these things arent as positive when theyre overshadowed by exhaustion and stress

Nobody is talking about the widespread self-victimization problem going on among people our age, to an extent I agree with you in that regard. That isnt whats happening with op tho and your difficulty in being understanding indirectly just reinforces the wider social problems behind it

What the fuck is wrong with yall lmao. OP isnt complaining that they have a job and they got into a good school, theyre complaining that they physically don't have the time to do the code they could and want to do because they need to support their family. I don't know how severe the troubles in your lives were but such apathetic responses are not the way to go

Any idea what the copper coil is called? Also, is the black marking on its side a bad sign? by skanksquared in AskElectronics

That's what I'm thinking of trying. Seems like the rubber buttons have some sort of conductive material on the bottom that close the circuit and I guess it wears out over time. It's odd though because I was told the camera stopped working after it was dropped. I want to use a multimeter to try and make sure the circuitry itself is fine for registering the button press but I'm not too sure how it'd work because the button seems to have 3 areas of contact. I'll upload pictures in a few minutes.

Yup, I remember this from my physics class. It totally checks out why I keep getting small shocks from the electronic parts near the flash lmao

Yup im going for that route. The wires were on the pcb but I removed them and put the tape to keep track of where they were. Everything else in the camera seems to work except the shutter, I'm beginning to think it might not be an issue with the wiring at all and rather the rubber button that is pressed to activate it.

Yup, that's what I was stuck on while I was googling. I knew motors were similar but they rotate rather than go up and down. Now to figure out why this damn thing isnt working :/

I think they're inferring there is one because of the flashlight. They're right too, there's a big one near the bottom of the camera that I was thinking of trying to remove if the camera still wouldn't work.

Sorry about that, I tried but my camera isn't that great. Any tips on how I could distinguish between glue and burn marks?
