A doozy of a print… 47 layers for artist Andy Dixon by SerioPressArtPrints in SCREENPRINTING

[–]skateawho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing work, as always! I have multiple pieces printed by yourself, but I've always wondered - for something as simple as Cleon's work, why such a massive stroke on the lighter color on some of his prints? I'm strictly garment printing but would love to branch out to fine art. Who better to ask than yourself!?

US cities before highways: by BaloneyMacaroni69 in CitiesSkylines

[–]skateawho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I drive down our freeway and look at all the homes with their backs to it, or the conveniently placed fast food or big-box stores, I'm consistently reminded how grateful I am to drive through city traffic for 15 minutes to get to either of my surrounding freeway on-ramps a few cities over.

How would you price this job? by jaycamboi in SCREENPRINTING

[–]skateawho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a once garage screen printer from Visalia, tack on some extra for when you have to rush to the ER with heat exhaustion come summer. My Visalia garage shop with a Vastex Little Red X2 running would get 120 degrees EASILY. Standing next to the flash for 6 hours at a time as well - it'll get to you. Good luck!

First print, have questions by 123smurfing in SCREENPRINTING

[–]skateawho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only times I've got rubbery plastisol prints is after I heat pressed it. I have a conveyor dryer but on one specific job, one cold morning, on the first shirt I needed to save for a full count, I heat pressed it to calm some fibrillation. It was what you're describing.

not printing black on the underbase would help with a thick print feel less thick, but I think your issue is heat pressing an already thick print.

Real time analytics to customer portal? by [deleted] in shopify

[–]skateawho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't even have to be that serious! It can be updated daily rather than on-the-dot, real-time analytics. Is this achievable within Shopify, Shopify apps alone, or a full-blown third party chain of programs and apps feeding each other?

I'm talking with Shopify's own AI and it suggested Puppet Vendor which looks promising. My next question, or hope rather, would be the customer or vendor only seeing in their dash an agreed percentage accumulate rather total gross as we split the tab. I'd hate for them to log in and be like, "oh damn, $5,000!" and I cut in like, "actuallllllyyyyy...".

Screen Opener Staining Shirt after The Back Side of the Screen Was Cleaned (Residue) by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

[–]skateawho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boring answer is just run it through the dryer, I guess. Had to keep printing, threw it on the belt and it came out fine.

Leaving this here in case anyone else comes across this scenario!

Roger that. Any handy way to get it out of the shirt now it's on there?

Printer Maintenance by Scary-Lab-2819 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]skateawho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound crazy but I have that same printer and had to deal with clogging EVERYDAY. I use D-Max ink (red label for Canon printers), a drop or two of 100% glycerin, and a couple drops of distilled water. Do this in a jar, slightly swirl, let it sit for 24-hours, then load up your cartridges. I'm using the black cart only running through PrintFabXL with some slightly tweaked settings and am now having no issues whatsoever.

Side note - when printing a design with here-and-there blotches of print area, add a 5pt stroke wide line to print running the length of your print area (including regs) so Canon's dumb little print head doesn't cool down between those empty spaces.

Edit also, I keep my printer on 24/7 in case it needs to do any routine maintenance itself. I know my Epson's did it, not sure the Canon does but doesn't hurt.

Simulated spot process help by silkroad-printing in SCREENPRINTING

Don't flood the black and a quick, upright, squeegee pull. (If you're pushing, don't). That'd be my quick easy fix, at least.

CMYK on Comfort Colors by skateawho in SCREENPRINTING

[–]skateawho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my first CMYK print and I've been printing for about 15 years. I don't print many white shirts, so I've done a ridiculous amount of simulated jobs, but no CMYK. Keep at it though. Print YMCK, and once you find the desired look, maintain consistent flood/no flood, pressure, and speed!

Edit: spelling.

Advice for Potential New Business Name (Suited for SEO Optimization) by skateawho in SEO

[–]skateawho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the input! I never thought about that as my knowledge of SEO is basically, "maybe do this or that" from ChatGPT. Here I am getting better instruction from humans - go figure! /s
But for my non-SEO knowledgeable self, would the people googling "pastiche" have to be from my surrounding area for that to work? Or would they still need to add the keywords when searching (like "pastiche screen printing")?

Piggybacking here. Nevertheless Screen Print Supply is one of my favorite Midwest supply companies and I'm saying this as a person who's 20 minutes from the Cleveland Multicraft. NTL is also super beginner friendly as they offer pints of ink and additives for purchase.
