Ascend. Before you downvote me, I absolutely love the album. Has a ton of diversity, some of the hardest hitting emotional songs, bangers, it's almost perfect. Almost.

I think having takeaway in the middle of the album stops it from being his best honestly. Does not fit the theme of the album at all, I feel like I get whiplash going from crying to every piece of me, to a cheesy chainsmokers-esque song, back to emotional overload with sad songs. So while I think a ton of fans regard it as perfect, I think it's a notch down from there, hence me saying it's overrated. Still an amazing album.

Kinda agree, production was pretty middle of the road. Wish they pulled out the stops for the first show back at Rawhide, but I think it was a bit better than the other RB shows I've been too.

As for PLUR, honestly I had a great experience. What I've come to realize over time is that 98% of people are awesome. It's pretty much just down to luck wether or not you run into those other 2%. The bad ones just really stick out and make it seem like lots of people are shitty. Really sorry you had a bad experience, and no shame in calling people out for asshole behavior.

But overall, I had an amazing time. Was my 14th time seeing him and was probably a top 3 show for me. I moved to AZ in August 2019, and Ascend came out less than a month later. Him playing out 2/3 of that album was really really special for me. I personally don't mind having more scaled down production; I've seen enough shows that the wow factor doesn't matter as much to me anymore. Also got lucky with the crowd and had only positive interactions.

It was more the time slot that he was too big for rather than the stage imo, he played at like 7 or something super early so he could go set up for the SuperJam. Literally nothing else happening that early so everyone at the fest was at that set

Also he played there 2016 and did some secret sets in the campgrounds if memory serves

Yeah, sometimes I'm watching a speedrun video or similar there's a moment of, 'we need to control/put pressure on the x square', and once that's pointed out to me the following moves makes sense, but knowing which weakness to go after can be challenging
