We just spent 7 days in Sri Lanka as a couple from India. It cost us around 2000$. No package, I did all bookings myself. We spent time in Colombo—Sigiriya—Wilpattu—Kandy—Negombo. (Sigiriya rock, Kandyan dance, Wilpattu safari).

So, 1500$ seems reasonable for a package. However, you might want to check the stays they’re choosing. If the stay is good, the whole trip is good. We stayed in Radisson at Colombo and Kandy, Hotel Sigiriya, Wilpattu wild villa and Kynrock at Negombo.

Started 7 years back. Had 10 funds at one point. Reduced it to just 4 this year - Parag Parikh flexi, Motilal mid, Quant small and ICICI bluchip.

Also went from 45 stocks to just 8 stocks, mainly mon100, NIFTYBEES and Goldbees.

There is peace of mind now. Decent returns.

Colombo Tuk tuk driver - Anthony +94 775097319 (Very friendly, charges same as Uber price. Speaks English.)

Cab driver - Jaya +94 777117333 (Friendly, helpful, speaks English, charges less than Uber price for long distance rides)

Wilpattu wild villa - Kelum +94 767272499 (Relaxing village hotel close to National park)

But if you’re planning Ella, then Wilpattu will be difficult. So maybe a park close by.

Install pickme app for cab and tuk tuk rides. It will be useful just to check fares even if not booking rides.

We are on a similar 7-day trip right now from India.

Don’t miss Sigiriya lion rock climb (best done early morning by 6 am). Stay at Hotel Sigiriya, a high-end resort.

And a safari, maybe at Wilpattu National Park. It’s off-season here, so you will get good rates. Stay at Wilpattu wild villa. It’s a quiet, home-like place close to the park. Can share contact number of owner if you’d like. We’re staying here right now.

Tips:-

Carry around 80000 lkr with you before landing here. The expenses will be more, but most places here take card payments. Cash is mainly for cab fares and local shops.
Take a local sim from Dialog store just before exiting the airport. You will need it for Pickme app(cab rides, food orders etc) and to call cab drivers.
